I would say for a long distance relationship in your own country would be cool but when you have to fly half way around the world you know you have a problem

How ever far he is. I'm not much into going outside the states with the exception of Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada ... aye

I've got an awkward schedule, and I don't like going out of my comfort zone, especially meeting people over the internet. So I wouldn't travel more than 50 miles, unless I had relatives or friends I could stay with living in that area. I would never go some place I'm not familiar with, it's not safe anymore. Too many psychos out there.
But I would be down for having my grandpa pick and screen a guy for me, then exchange e-mail addresses with him. Then talk for a long time, then maybe when I go visit my grandpa next, that guy and I could meet up.

Silver you didn't tell me I was going to have to date your grandpa first.
Here's the real deal on the travel. You can travel all over the world to find your love. Once found, one of the two must relocate in order to carry on that love.
Long distance love will not survive. Too much pain involved in it. So be realistic before you fall in love. Know where it's heading.

My grandpa is a tough nut to crack and he's VERY traditional (we're Norwegian, and he's from the motherland. He's even racist against other Scandinavians! Pretty much if you aren't Norwegian decent and have a strong family history and be upper middle to lower-high class, you aren't ever going to be good enough for me in his eyes). But I think any man who can charm my grandpa might be worth a second look for me. But I still have to find him attractive and he still has to be nice and good in bed
Well at least he'd give them some sort of chance, unlike my father who has something negative to say about everyone because nobody is ever going to be good enough for "Daddy's Lil Angel".

I agree w/dutchboy. No place is too far to meet, but somebody gotta move!
I see Stony Plain - welcome fellow northerner! so do you think we could ever
convince anyone to come to this cold country of ours?
Actually that is what I wonder - how does all this on-line dating work -
do people really travel just to date someone! and if not, what's the point
of being on here? of course I ask AFTER I have signed up!

I have no problem in relocating. That is part of a relationship. But I also must think of my son. I won't move during the school time period. Too hard on my son with ADHD and different states start at different months. If a man is cool with that, then I don't see a problem.

Rose, I hope you have done some local searches in your area to find what you are looking for. I'm sure the have men up there as well.
Chopper, you are one of the lucky few that can relocate or will relocate. I hope you will find or have found that man. Your posts are always right on.
Answer to thread...Someone will have to relocate to carry that love into a relationship.
