My headliner is coming loose right above the rear window
Anybody know an easy Inexpensive way to fix it. Its just sortof pulled away from the Plastic ( or whatever it is )
I thought about glue, maybe stretching it back into the plastic.
If I use glue, what do I use???
I can fix it, just not sure what to use. Somebody told me doublesided tape might work, like carpet tape. I really want a permanent fix.
Thanks, Rickie

3M makes an adhesive spray for head liners, there is also one made by another company
That one is called Heads up. They are both sprays. Peal it back alittle further than it has already fallen. spray it on generously and then pull it tightly and try too smooth it out. you'll only get 1 shot to get it on smoothly.
Best of luck!

anytime I ever had a headliner come loose I had a leak somewhere, the moisture is what made it come loose. You might want to check for any leaks before you attempt to fix it.

There is a spray adhesive you can find at your local hobby lobby store or craft store. I found using a butter knife helps to smooth the healiner after you spray it on. I recently fixed one in an accquaintance of mine truck, that was two weeks ago and it's still sticking! Hope this helps!

This may sound a little red-necky, but if the car is older, and not really worth all that much money, i have used a staple gun to slam them back up.
As i said, it ain't pretty. But it works. And it will stay up there. And you can get a little creative in doing it that way. Possibly put the staples in some sort of a pattern.
If you do it that way, your main goal is to just hang it back up to stop the drooping headliner from blocking your vision. Don't expect much on a trade in if you follow my advise.
But then again, the cars i did it to were just junks anyway.

Staple, yes. Many cars have this flake stuff (old glue?) that is hard to adhere to.

can you take the headliner completely out to repair it? What if it comes loose in the middle, how do you go about getting the adhesive under the cloth

Taking a head liner out of a car is a ROYAL pain. Some cars have to have either the windshield or rear glass removed for access.
The head liners are put in from the factory before the glass is installed.

If you are gentle with it this will work. remove all the inside trim plastic pieces that are on the post areas of your roof, the headliner is glued to a piece of fiber board that is held to the roof with small clips. gently release those and remove the entire headliner from the inside of the vehicle, turn it upside down, remove the headliner material from the fiberboard, brush all the residue from the fiber board, get a new can of headliner adhesive spray and spray the entire fiber board surface, lay the headliner material on the board and pull all the wrinkles out, allow it to sit over night. reinstall in reverse order. If you have rips and tears in it, now is a good time to replace the material. you can buy it in rolls........ Hows zat?

I've actually done this several times, both for myself and in the small auto shop in Alaska that I owned for several years, its not the pain that some folks think it to be, it does take patience and common sense. I only described a way of doing it that actually works and has good results. Body/upholstry shops do it all the time. Its not hard to do , just takes time. Even awoman such as yourself might be able to do it
