One more, than I think I am off to slumber my new found companion of composition...

Heauton Timoroumenos [To J.G.F.]

I SHALL STRIKE, being more cruel
Than my hatred, your sweet mouth
Scented as the sorcerous South!
And from you red lids, O my jewel,

In my throat's thirst, as I revel,
Shall gush water that quenches fire.
And my impllacable desire
On your salt tears shall bring evil,

As a vessel from a distance
Where my heart's intoxication
Shall drink your sobs, alleviation
Of my passionate persistence!

Am I a wrong note that unites me
With the voracious symphony
Of that diviner irony
Which in sensation smites and bites me?

She is in my voice the shrill shrew, calling!
She is black poison in all my blood; alas,
I am the sinister looking-glass
Where the Medusa sees snakes crawling!

I am the plague, the knife, the treason!
The cheek that feels the wound! I reel,
All my limbs quartered on the wheel,
That reels before me without reason!

I am of my own heart the Vampire, token
Of one compelled to the condemnation
Of laughter's uttermost damnation,
Who must wreak in hell what I wroken!

Charles Baudelaire

Hope it doesn't give you nightmares. Good night!

Methinks thou dost protest too much ... I'm gonna go shallow and then go home.

As I was walking
Down the stair
I met a man
Who wasn't there

He wasn't there
Again today
I wish that man
Would go away

Corner of my Mind

In secret shadows hidden from view,
Are feelings kept... from friends I knew,
Lost in the mire of those I have met,
Is love and caring... and some regret.

"Too late," you say to redeem your soul,
To live and love with just one goal,
To rights the wrongs of a lifetime's pain,
And feel the sun, yet, miss the rain.

Looking back on life... of those I've hurt,
The talks I've missed by being curt,
By friends unknown... now strangers gone,
The moment lost... for they all moved on.

And in a far distant corner of my mind,
Are those many regrets I did find,
Of loving less and choosing wrong,
For caring not and hating long.

Then clarity beckons to a silver bright light,
And blindness escapes... then free is our sight,
The pure complex world of beauty shines in,
Then vanquished... we blind- let tolerance begin.

And reflecting back on the roads divided,
My choices made and life's flame ignited,
'Twas apart of living, dying and just growing old,
Then God ends your story... and another is told.

I have others but there in pic form bc i saved them from other sites and cant get them to post on here

alright, I can go that way too!

There was an old man from Calcutta
Who coated his tonsils in butta,
Thus converting his snore
From a thunderous roar
To a soft, oleaginous mutta.

You lay down one day very old
Your body once warm now growing cold.
You don't know that at the end of this day
Instead of here you'll be far away.
Your heart feels tired and heavy
Your breathing slows now nice and steady.
You realize something is happening to you
But know there is nothing that you can do.
As you hear you're wheezing breath
You know that what's coming is death.
No more sadness or pain
Your life begins to drain.
You lay there helpless and crying
Your time has finally come, you are dying.
Your breathing stops and so does your heart
At last the time has come for you to part.
It could make you mad in the head
Knowing that one-day you will be dead.
It is better to realize
That it's all right every one dies.

I received a text message earlier from a long time friend of mine, and all it said:

"Dust to dust. Certain it is, this vale of tears."

Does anyone know what that means, or where it is from?

I asked what it meant, and got no answer. It's bothering me.

It sounds like a cross between the Catholic Burial rite, and Shakespeare, but I just can't put it together.

Tsoprano, I doubt it was meant to be sensual. If anything it sounds sad.

I was looking for this one last night. One of my own poems, lost so many over the years...

A Free Way
On the path of labor, I wander.
I look upon the formation of the world,
see the brown and black peaks of our labor,
the green patterns of the canopy that raise,
from the valley floor.

The black path burned from unknown toxins,
stretches out in front of me.
The Peaks are broken by unnatural shapes,
Cylinders and rectangles blot the peaks.
The canopy rises above,
diversity of which is almost alien.

The line of experience laid out before me,
I saturate in a pool of senses.
The peaks all look like a mass of dunes,
and the shapes strange beings.
The canopy in it's natural green and,
it's unnatural being.

California gives such strange feelings.

This is a poem that my oldest son wrote about wrestling. He was 14 at the time he wrote this.

Give and Take

Wrestling is a hard sport
Only real men stay
Great rewards will come
But there’s a price to pay

Dedication is a step you must take
Even if you must put in an extra hour just to make weight
A strong will is something you will need
On your grueling journey to succeed

But sometimes even the strong Don’t make it
You must have the technique and desire
To step up and take it.
