I am new to the Island as well,it,s only been a year,I have a neice moving here,and we want to get to know people here,NO MAN IS A ISLAND,so we all need friendships,Please let me know where, when, and what to bring,I,ll try my best to get there.
I am disabled and I can,t do alot,but I want to be a apart of it,I love cooking and helping with it,I don,t know any of the dishes here,but what a way to learn,Thank you for that great Idea."Mahalo"

Sounds like the ladies here are more into these threads. And that we all want to have a get together! Well, if the guys aren't responding - we may have to have a "girls night" out! Let's see who else responds. Tell some of the guys you're all emailing - if you want it to be a "mixed" party. And then we'll have to figure out which island, where, and when!!!
Thanks to all sharing here! Shows real aloha spirit. And to the beautiful Hawaiian woman - do this Haole a favor - can you translate the Hawaiian words you write so I can learn and understand? Thanks for being here!

i hope i can give a comment? i born and raised on honolulu.school all in waianae
but i moved away ,but i just had to say how i enjoy all the posts comments fromm all
of you ih hawaii,maui,big islands,etc.
also the music on "bradda Iz" so love it i have all his cd's
i wish i was on the islands i would be so glad to meet all of you and a great get-together with all

Oh, so lovely to find a group of older women & guys! We have our own culture, ya know? I had some Hapu'u and Ohia call to me in Volcano a few years ago to "adopt" them & take care - I love trees & birds. So I have some aina there which I visit often until I can retire & come for good. I sit back in my trees & let the dream of my house become more & more real. I come to Big Island often & would love to meet some of you next time I come. Meanwhile I am working in Seattle but my heart is always in the islands. Would love to build more friendships there. I was born big city girl but in 1997 the flowers, sun, Pele & lovely people won my heart. Aloha!

 Margiem ~ Welcome home! Waikiki is the concrete jungle of Oahu. But hopefully we could still find you amongst the crowd. LOL
If ever you need assistance with anything pls. Do not hesitate on calling on me. (Really!).
I know a little bout the delectable local cuisines (perpetration/cooking) but I do have a hearty appetite (hint). POT LUCK style.
Maybe we could ask Sweetbread to pass on some homemade recipes.
Ohialehua ~ What a beautiful username. Mahalo nui for hanai’ing (adopting) the native plants/flowers. Hopefully the “aina” (land) you have isn’t in the red-zone. Pele seems to be expanding daily.
 Mauibabe have created a thread just for us local people’s & slowly it’s catching on… Though the kane (male’s) aren’t as visual – they do exist. To each his own.

"aloha" in you. Just reading the post from the 2 of you,I feel so home again
It's the Island "Aloha" from within a person.Much Mahalo.
You know go to "alohaworld.com" it's a island web page which is free,it has all
kinds of categories and one is "ONO" recipes,check it out.
But i would be glad to share lots of Hawaii and Portugee recipes.
Yes i live in Oregon now but all the family still lives in Honolulu,and Kona,i was just home in March. My next visit I would love to meet the 2 of you or have a get together
with the Islanders.
