some may already know this. the doughnut was started by a sea captain. can't remember what year. every nite when he was on duty guiding the ship at the wheel, he would have his cook bring him a piece of cake. one nite they ran into a storm when he was eating, he didn't have time to lay the cake down, so he just put it on a peg of the wheel. so, after that had the cook make all them with a hole in them.

Life in the 1500's
Most people got married in June because they took their
yearly bath in May and were still smelling pretty good by
June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides
carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the b.o.
Baths equaled a big tub filled with hot water. The man of
the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all
the other sons and men, then the women and finally the
children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so
dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying,
"Don't throw the baby out with the bath water,"
Sometimes they could obtain pork and would feel really special
when that happened.. When company came over, they would
bring out some bacon and hang it to show it off. It was a sign of
wealth and that a man "could really bring home the bacon."They
would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around
and "chew the fat."
Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with a high
acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food.
This happened most often with tomatoes, so they stopped
eating tomatoes...for 400 years.
Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt
bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the
top, or the "upper crust".
Lead cups were used to drink ale or whiskey. The combination
would sometimes knock them out for a couple of days. Some-
one walking along the road would take them for dead and
prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table
for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat
and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the
custom of holding a "wake".

Horses spend their whole lifetime standing, even when they sleep.
Mmm, total crap.
"Horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying down. They are able to doze and enter light sleep while standing, an adaptation from life as a prey animal in the wild. Lying down makes an animal more vulnerable to predators.[21] Horses are able to sleep standing up because a "stay apparatus" in their legs allows them to relax their muscles and doze without collapsing.[22][23]
Unlike humans, horses do not sleep in a solid, unbroken period of time. They obtain sleep by means of many short periods of rest. Horses may spend anywhere from four to fifteen hours a day in standing rest, and from a few minutes to several hours lying down. Total sleep time in a day may range from several minutes to a couple of hours.[24] Horses require approximately two and a half hours of sleep, on average, in a 24-hour period. Most of this sleep occurs in many short intervals of about 15 minutes each.[25]
Horses must lie down to reach REM sleep. They only have to lie down for an hour or two every few days to meet their minimum REM sleep requirements.[24] However, if a horse is never allowed to lie down, after several days it will become sleep-deprived, and in rare cases may suddenly collapse as it involuntarily slips into REM sleep while still standing.[26] This condition differs from narcolepsy, though horses may also suffer from that disorder.[25]"

In 1927, silent film star Clara Bow starred in a film called "It," which tells the story of a shop girl who sets her sights on the handsome owner of the store where she works, only to find her plan endangered when a reporter writes a story claiming she is an unwed mother. It was considered very racy for the time and Bow's role solidified her as the epitomy of the sexy, confident young flapper ... or the "It Girl."

WTF is your point with the copy and paste shit? I put it in quotes to indicate that it was from a website. I realize that you probably skipped out on some of the finer points of education, given the whole "horses stand their whole lives" thing, but generally quotation marks mean you're quoting.
Really not rocket science.

HISTORY OF THE MIDDLE FINGER
History of the Middle Finger
>>
>>Well, now......here's something I never knew before, and now that I
know
>>it,
>>I feel compelled to send it on to my more intelligent friends in the
>>hope that they, too, will feel edified. . Isn't history more fun when
you
>>know something about it? . Giving the Finger: . Before the Battle of
>>Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English,
>>proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English
soldiers.
>>Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned
>>English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in
the
>>future.
>>
>>This famous weapon was made of the native English Yew tree, and the
act of
>>drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew").
Much
>>to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and
began
>>mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated
French,
>>saying, "See, we can still pluck yew! "PLUCK YEW!" . Since 'pluck
yew' is
>>rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the
beginning
>>has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative 'F', and thus the
words
>>often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! . It is also
because
>>of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the
>>symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird."
>>
>>FYI... IT IS STILL AN APPROPRIATE SALUTE TO THE FRENCH TODAY!

You should learn how to punctuate, spell and use proper grammar before you start chastising anyone here. If not, then copy and paste.
