In the 1800's Pubs in London only served beer in pints and Quarts, so when things got out of hand the bartender would shout out watch your pints and quarts! Hence the expression watch your P's and Q's??

Just in time for Valentines Day..........the symbol X for kiss, as in hugs & kisses, xoxoxox, was first used when a peasant, who couldn't sign his name, marked an X & then kissed the hand of who he owed to seal the deal.

do you know why london england calls their cops bobbies?
the name was coined in 1843 to honor Sir Robert Peel who was responsible for organizing London's police force!
Peel was Prime Minister at the time; he organized the police force after his secretary was killed in an attempt to kill him!
bet you didn't know that! i always wondered about that, and just read it in a book i was reading!

That the back, ribs, neck and bridge of a cello are all made from maple because of its strength. The top (also called the belly), however, is made of spruce because of the exquisite tonal properties of that wood.

The first Crayola crayons came in a box of eight colours: black, blue, brown, green, orange, purple, red and yellow. By 1957, 40 new colours were introduced. Today there are more than 120 crayon colours, including Atomic Tangerine, Blizzard Blue, Mango Tango, Outrageous Orange, Laser Lemon, Screamin' Green and Shocking Pink. Over 5 billion crayons are produced each year. So there is no chance in Hades that anyone can ever be the sharpest crayon in the box
