This weekend I went to Nebraska to meet a guy that I've been talking to for a few weeks (met on another site).
What a disappointment that was! I'll never understand why so many people mis-represent themself! A gentleman he claimed to be, professes to have plenty of money (not that it matters that much to me). Get to his house and he has one recliner, one lawn chair and one bed. Just where did the 'gentleman' expect me to sleep????
I'm not giving up though. I still strongly believe that there is someone out there for each of us. If we find each other, Great; if not, then I'm happy all by my self. I can live with that. I'm not trying to find a man to make me happy, I'm simply looking for one that I'd like to share my life with.
ps,
he sat in the recliner and left the lawn chair for me - what a gentleman!

It is just as possible to find someone on a dating site as it is in the 'real world'. But you have to go about it a bit differently. When you meet someone in person you can analyze them pretty quickly and decide if they are date worthy or not. But when you are talking to someone online you have to use your 'online instincts' to make this determination. These instincts have to be developed. Eventually you will learn to weed out the crap before you waste a bunch of time talking to them.
Some tips:
- Don't bother with people who don't have multiple pictures. Make sure you see at least
a few pictures before meeting them in person. You can't really tell what someone looks like from only 1 picture.
- Don't spend too much time talking to them online. A few emails should be sufficient to decide whether you want to meet each other. Meet for a drink and see what happens.
- Try to avoid the long-distance thing. That's a tough road and dating is already tough enough.

It is very possible, seen it happen a number of times. I personally know a number of couples that met online and are now happily married. You just have to be reasonable about your expectations.
When you put in your profile you are expecting the perfect partner and are picky, you miss a lot of the best people. Think about it, who would think they are almost perfect? That is what is going to answer your ads.
I see so many profiles that are unreasonable about what they expect, it is no wonder they miss out on all the best people. They get the idea you are full of yourself and looking for only mr/ms prefect they don't bother to even reply to your ad. Just what kind of people are you attacting with your ads? If they are not what you are looking for, then maybe you should rewrite your ad.
Sometimes lowering your standard a little bit will bring much better results. Open your parameters and see if people that have a little humility and personality will start responding to your ads.

yep, i got the lawn chair. Didn't stay too long. When we started to watch a movie and he got up and went to the computer to talk to someone else I was outta there! I slept in my car at a truck stop about 200 miles away! I know that wasn't the safest thing to do but felt it was safer than staying at his house! He was supposed to pay my way but didn't so I didn't have the money to pay for a motel and I was too tired to drive any further.
Live and learn . . . I definately learned! Always, ALWAYS, trust your instincts!

Kidd...You mean he had a recliner? I am jealous, I only have a lawn chair, but I would have let you sit in it...for a few minutes anyway...LOL
Sometimes we do have to be careful about what people tell us on the net. I have met a number of ladies that will tell me all kinds of things and think that their charming personalities will win me over IF they only got the chance to meet with me in person. Even drove miles only to be stood up. Never to hear from them again.
But then I have been lied too off the net also. I tend to take people at face value until I find out different, it does lead to disappointment sometimes but I would rather live that way then be suspicious of everyone I meet.

He found me on book of matches.
He deleted his profile before I ever got back home!
Who knows? either I was a big disappointment to him too
or I broke his heart! Either way, he must have given up on the
internet dating stuff.
My advice is steer clear of custom saddle makers from Plainview, Ne!

don't know how he ran across my name.
was a 500 mile drive
all i knew about him was what he told me.
i tend to take people at face value, so i assumed he was telling me the truth.
the red flag that bothered me the most was the fact that he was pretty opinionated.
next time i'll pay lots more attention to the red flags!
I still believe your chances of picking up a psycho are greater in a bar than they are on the internet so I will not give up. At least when you talk on the internet you start off emailing a few times, then messenger, then start the phone calls. In a bar, you only have 'til closing time!

I use to have a couple saddles in my living room and I wasn't a saddle maker.
I also didn't ride horses....I will let you guys try and figure that one out...LOL

I had two very nice saddles on free standing saddle racks with complete gear in my Living Room. That included saddle blankests, bridle, reins, gun scabbard, breastcollars, etc.
They was not just for show either.
