I personally don't have time to go profile searching. I do glance at profiles from other forum users.
I email each and every person that emails me. If the correspondance continues then they are added to my friends list.Then eventually to my favorites. Then I read their profile. I have been lucky so far. I usually get great emails that leaves me with enought to work with to answer back.
Pictures are not important to me. I could really careless if they have a picture or not. Sometime if and when we decide to meet then Yanno I want to know what you look like.

ok, had to share this.............
I got a wink from someone TODAY - no photo posted but I did read the profile and thought he sounded like a really cool guy so I winked back. I still think it's hard to wink at a gray shadow, but I digress......
Anyway he writes back and attaches a pic - OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS ADORABLE!!!!!! and so funny. I really had a huge smile on my face. I am glad I read the profile and winked back to the gray shadow cause he is quite the man!!!!

I always look at the profile, even if the sender has no pic... it's very rare if they don't get somekind of a reply too, just for the record. 
One other thing tho... I do find it difficult to relate without knowing what the other person looks like, but that's not a slight on them - just me I guess.

Let's be honest here..... photo's are as important as their profile. You could be best friends and have many common interests but if your not attracted to them physically, then how are you going to make them happy intimately? For me? Looks are important, but it's the content of her heart that I fall in love with!!!

Sad thing is you start to chat with someone with no profile and then see a picture and if you're not attracted you can be friends but how do you then say "sorry you're not my type" without offending this person. As they say a picture is worth a 10000 words
