thats nice but we had 60 degrees several days this week in new york. even on cloudy days. if it was a clear sky woulda been hotter. thats around 20-30 degrees higher than it should be around this time of year.
if we go 20-30 degrees higher in the summer, we're dead.

hi knotreel, still up?
china's gonna help kill even more people with global warming as they follow america's leadership in being a consumer nation; having to have more more more of everything, a billion people want to be on the road in suvs cause they won't fit in regular cars anymore. they chop down trees everyday to build the highrises; the water and air are polluted so u can have ur cheap walmart goodies; global warming is real but why stop the spending spree? how many how big how grandiose? won't stop till u overdose!

Hey SD I agree. Not enough data over a longer period to make a major decision on global warming. Pollution is what it is, quit polluting and things would get better. Pollution and global warming go hand in hand. I freezing my butt off here so I'm not buying it..........yet. JMO

I just haven't seen any evidence that climatic conditions are outside the normal variance.
Besides, since 1998 global temps have actually gone down a fraction of a degree. Maybe the SO2 aerosols from the Chinese coal burning plants reflecting sunlight?
I think humans take too much credit for what they are able to do

actually i dont think humans r the only cause. i think there is a cycle but i think humans have added to it. like, there r some countries that had a cycle of drought every 10 years but now its more sporadic.
and it doesnt mean everybodys gonna feel hot. it does mean u will see more and more hurricanes and tornados; and they will be stronger and stronger. and theyre gonna begin before the hurricane season and continue afterwards.
lets say it means nothing. so we stop the pollution and stop using up all the resources and help the ecology for the next 20 years. if ur right and nothing happens then we just have a healthier environment. whats the problem with that?

Maybe they just want to tap into the bottomless government bank to finance a bunch of scientists going to exotic places to "study". I smell special interests

they can study the lower water levels rite here in new york and a lot of other local places. and track the increasing hurricanes, tornados and floods. and then there are the new tropical diseases that people in areas that used to have a real winter didnt used to get.

The diseases are mostly from overdevelopment. Digging up ground that has been untouched for centuries. Especially in the rain forest. I'm with SD and I don't believe the globe as a whole is warming. Some areas maybe. More data please. Maybe instead of all the garbage on TV and all the money the Gov has wasted in Iraq, they could put info-mercials on that could eductate all of us better? But would it be t he truth anyway?

And here I thought Dinosaur farts and burping cows caused global warming..and volcanos spewing out volcanic ash..
I agree man hasnt exactly helped out the environment. wouldn't hurt us to learn to recycle and conserve and not damage the things that sustain us..
trees...yeah we kinda need em if I remember high school biology..something about they help produce the air we breathe..or filter it..or something..my h.s. years are a faded memory..since I polluted my brain in college..

I just watched a show on PBS a couple weeks ago regarding the South Pole and how it continues to grow. The scientists estimated that the ice cap was 2 miles deep and covered an area larger that the US and Mexico combined. It’s obvious that some weather patterns have shifted but there are two many opposing opinions out there from the weather science community for me to buy into the global warming sky is falling fiasco. Our own NASA came out and said that the northern cap was breaking up due to shifting wind patterns. There is an undercurrent of opinion that it’s another ploy by the world community to get into our pockets once again. Having said that I am all for conservation and taking care of our planet. By all means but in a systematic and logical way based on solid science.
