It seems like there are not many men out there who are into being the way its supposed to be. Just curious if anyone else felt that way. I have no problem being the woman and knowing my place.

I have to believe that in my case God has back ~ I have connected with a true gentleman and not sure what your def of old fashioned is but this guy is a true man of God and since he is my age understands about treating a lady like a lady and "courting".

All my past relationships have been sexually based and of course never lasted. This time God is the foundation so it is different than anything I have known but I can tell you that is is very refreshing being in his company and taking the time to get to really know each other.

Good men are out there and I bet even on here too if you give it time. Good luck to you.

As far as knowing my place. It is NOT being a push over but a partner.

I'm not a man and please forgive me for intruding on your thread, but can you please elaborate on "how it's suppose to be?" And "knowing your place?" What "place" is that? I'm a very independant woman and suffered thru the "this is the way it's going to be" relationship (marriage) for 10 years and can't imagine why someone would be looking for such a "downgrade," so to speak, in life? There is nothing wrong with trying to please your man but the June Cleaver days went out long ago. JMO

i think women and non-gentlemen have killed the chivalry. i personally am a gentlemen in the truest sense of the word. but when i tell women this they all think the same thing "just another guy saying stuff he doesnt mean to get with me" like when you use keywords for a job interview "on-time, hardworking, follows directions" because the wrong guys say there are gentlemenly and then screw over a girl she does not believe it when an actual gentlemen comes along and tries to sweep her off her feet.

I think 2 people nailed the issue on the head.

One posted about women and bad men killed chivalry

The other one said she is very independent..

Yes many women are very independent today not that it is bad. The problem I see with that is that a man was the "fixer","protector" and the "provider".

Many women today fail to see the importance to all that for the male. Now you have commercials and tv shows that slam men for being men. Then ask what happened to the old fashion guy?

The old fashion guy is under attack on many fronts so now you have men who are wimpy, uncaring and in many cases just rude.

No matter what you may think, men and women do have their places and because of this lack of understanding we see divorce in the highest numbers ever. No man wants to feel he is not needed, just as no woman still does not want to feel special and this does cause many issues unseen in the modern relationships of today.

But then again what do I know I am just a stupid guy

Now that I read the entire post from SB. My question is what is the down grade to what the poster said.

women still want to be treated like women and even want those 3 things I stated from a man.

Provider, protector and the fixer.

Yes even those things were around with June Cleaver, no one is asking that a woman stay home and do the floors in a dress, but each sex does have roles to play in relationships and within the family.

This is no way is an attack on your thinking it is just my observations in the changes I have seen in my lifetime.

And like the old fashion guy I am just for you.

When I first read this thread, the line "A woman's place is in the home" came to mind. I never did agree with that statement. Maybe my first post was just a reflection on a part of my life I'd rather forget. Sorry for adding my 2 cents.

There are plenty of them. I'm proof of that. Its because I have kids though. If I didn't have kids I have a feeling I'd be a bit out of control.

There is absolutely no place for anybody to know. If that's what you enjoy the cooking and cleaning and such that is still not a place. Theres nothing wrong with a man helping you do those things it makes life easier when you work together as a partnership then two seperates who supposingly has their own tasks of what they should be doing.

I would like to find a relationship like my mom and step dad. My mother has never wanted for anything. She only worked outside the home after they were married because she got bored and she is a shopaholic. My step dad is a good provider, retired Navy man, and factory worker. He has always had a decent income, now retirement income. He takes care of our land, cars, mr. fix it, dogs, etc. He just bought the family a Harley I have been asking for one for years. He is an even tempered guy, bark louder then bite. A big teddy bear of a man.
So I myself would not mind an old fashion guy, if he was like my step dad.

When I think of "old fashioned",, qualities come to mind...respect, honor, chivalry, morals, and others. Wonder why these are considered "old" fashioned instead of "in" fashion???

who sets the standards for "the way its supposed to be" ? you do my friend, there are still some good guys out there believe me i have found a few and i raised a few too.

times they are a changing. you still need to follow the golden rule and remember if it is right with you and the one you choose it doesn't have to be right with everyone else.i had to find that out the hard way.

listen to your heart! it is the one that will show you the way.

I like my independance but I also like to be "courted" as they say, and I still like a man to be a gentlemen, I don't think a women should have to give up one for the other, nor should a man have to choice, in any relationship, treat others as you like to be treated

Yes there are some old fashioned men but, we tend to be older. When you find a man that believes in chivalry AND will treat you as an equal partner in the relationship, then you have something.
