Why do we view a rose as beauty but the thorns as a mistake. Is this coincedence or an eternal relationship of good and evil?? what is beauty? it is not in a rose, nor a sunset, nor that cute girl in the corner giggling like a school girl. Beauty is the emotions felt from all things. a simple pine blowing in the breeze, a homeless man begging for change on a crumbled city corner, or the death of a loved one. beauty is not always happiness, but the pure ability to feel. ours is the option of seeing it. realizing that we can feel from all things. opening ours minds to the beauty of all things, and the journeys they have taken to cause those feelings. an aluminum can rolling down the sidewalk, trash? litter? Where did it come from? it was at one time, part of another's life. How many lives has that can touched, without them even knowing, before it rolled into your life. we can only imagine, and that is beauty. if it could talk, what great adventures would it speak of. Maybe it tells of a lonely drifter snatching off the mississippi shore and recycled for 5 cents towards his next bus ride to neverland. Where did it go next? Where did the drifter go? Maybe you've walked by him never knowing you were eternally connected by a simple can. so i ask you again, what is beauty? The rose you will see a thousand times, or the thorn that draws a drop of blood and leaves a scar that lasts a lifetime?
