Honestly... I mean, Im new to DH and all but every other thread seems to be about how men are just not up to the same "wonderful standards" as women.
The whole guys are only into looks thing kills me. You find me a woman who will date an unattractive man and i will find 6 men dying to date her.
The fact of the matter is men have been the same since they learned to walk upright... and so have women. The male brain is wire to act first, think later. Also their original mindset was to knockup as many females as possible to further their blood lines. This explains cheating and why men say they want the smart girl with a good heart and then go sleep with the anorexic bimbo whose made of 30% silicon.
Women are no better. Due to the actions of men; women have come up with defensive stratagies to eliminate these primitive behaviors. So really, who is worse?
Women who play games, or men who understand which head they think with?

Some people, men & women, rise above the stereotypes (sp?), probably fewer in situations like this, online dating site. I'd say some women, typically those who have had problems with men, think that they are somehow superior to a lot of men and maybe they are superior to those they know. Some men definitely think they're superior to women, so, I'd say it's an even playing field...do with it what you're comfortable with. (I'm usually more concise than this, sugar is low, gotta go eat!)

Probably about 90-95% of men will think appearance comes first, then worry about the personality later. Honestly, even though I'm a guy, I find this way of thinking very sucky. All my friends think this way, and it annoys the hell out of me. Makes me wonder what SHE is feeling and to be honest, I'm still single because women in my area are complete drug addicts. Teens are druggys. FREAKIN TEEN GIRLS! How sick is that. And men still date them cause they look good. I stand there silently laughing knowing that they'll screw themselves over..lol If this is what a true man is, to judge looks, then I ain't a man!!!

Wow cj_smith, you have a different outlook for a 19 year old and it's very encouraging that you see things with a different perspective.
I have never thought that a man is beneath me nor has it ever crossed my mind. Both genders view things differently. I have standards for I don't want to settle with a man just because I am lonely.

tuffkris, i'm impressed by your opening statements in this thread.
with regards to cj smith, your percentage conclusion can also be applied to women. and also note that women are more superficial with regards to men's appearance in comparison to men vs. women.
what's being left out is that when men and women are young, they are more into looks. as they get older, both sexes value other credentials such as attitude, lifestyle, and what that particular person can bring to the table. it's a phase that we all go through whether one admits it or not.
when i was your age, I only dated dimes. i dated the most attractive women on campus. but as i got older, i knew based on my experiences, that beauty is only skin deep. now of course, looks still matter as the case with all people, but not to the degree in which i used back when i was your age. i don't look for perfect 10s anymore. just someone pleasing to my eyes with a great personality and attitude to match. if the looks are there, but no personality, I don't even waste my time or energy.

well, i mean correct me if im wrong but people have a pattern and a type.
you look for that type, knowingly or not. What you look for depends on traumatic events, upbringing, and your envoirnment. The more you know about your attraction, the less attractive it becomes... no?

Some women believe the things they believe due to conditioning and male privilege...the tables are turned now...survival of the fit to see who is really the ashes beneath one's feet...guess it's all a matter of perspective. one love!
