WHOA....tough topic!
I recently ended a long distance relationship...I live in Florida and he lives in Canada. We met online, talked everyday...got to visit each other 5 times. When I first saw his pics I was "struck"...but when I got to see him in person...I had already fallen for him and he was not what I expected. But because I totally was in tune with his personality, I continued the relationship.
It lasted a whopping 1 year...we are still friends but neither of us were willing to move to be together....so needless to say, dont fall in love with a picture, fall in love with the person...I fell in love with his personality and how well we clicked that he actually became the most beautiful man on earth to me....and that is what happens.
GOod luck to you, but before diving in, make sure one of you is willing to move if the relationship progresses and is everything you want.

Even though this likely to read as a somewhat cynical response, it is not meant to be. The truest, most lasting "love," one that I enjoy to this very day and trust with my life was a "lady" I first saw on a wanted poster. She wanted/needed a good home. We met, it was true love at first sight. Did I mention already that she walks on four legs and barks?

I fell in love with his personality first and then when we finally met I fell hard for his looks and now he says he is not really ready for a relationship I feel like we are soul mates and he does too but he will never commit to getting married again or a serious relationship with me or anyone. So I am happy just to be able to keep him as my best male friend at least I can have that part of him.
