What is your take on the fees from hiking trails parks etc?
Is it our land or theres. We shouldn't have pay to use our land.

well, we don't have hiking trails here and the parks are free. you do have to pay to park at the Boardwalk on the beach during the peak season, but the money gained is used to refurbish or rebuild the boardwalk each time it is devastated by a hurricane. things are pretty much the same here now as they were when I was a child.

I agree it was better when you could go to parks and hiking trails for free, the issue became having to clean up after those who did not respect the land and needed to be cleaned up after them.

Though its not as bad as when I was a kid and most of you were they used to charge to go into the bathrooms it was I think 10cents just to use a public bathroom, being from a family of seven kids on the road got real expensive especially when everyone had to go at different times. So we started crawling under the doors, but then they figured people were doing it so they lowered the doors so that didn't work any more. I have forgotten what age I was when they stopped that, I think it was when they started opening the liquor stores up at rest stops.

Oh, yes, I remember paid toliets. All the White Castles had them and one of the three malls here at the time had them. It sucked when you had to go and no dime, you had to stand outside the door and beg someone to let you in.
I stopped going to Bernheim Forest when they started charging $5 a car on the weekends. It's beautiful and a nice place but no thanks. They don't charge on the weekends. But then again they only allow so many cars in at a time and close the gates until some leave, or they used to...I guess they stopped that or they wouldn't have to pay.
It don't make sense to me.

I think the goverment has no business whether its State Or Federal being Landowners. They do a lousy job managing the land and wildlife wasting our hard earned money.
Our Federal goverment would run in the Black if they would sell off nearly all the Goverment land.
