Oh, Medea.

Melanie Morgan shares a story from Iraq war vet Sgt. Eamon Kelly USMC:

“While we were at the protest in Berkeley from 12 to 4 PM a white volvo drove by and a man spat upon code pink. They chased him down the street and got into a verbal altercation. The police were NO WHERE in sight. That’s not the best part, ready for this? Medea Benjamin yelled and I quote “Marines!” she actually yelled for our help because this man had stepped out of his car. Lol. I even asked her if she was yelling Police and she told me “I said Marines” then put her arm around my friend Allen (the Marine vet) Ironic? Ok back to the emails!! “

This really doesn't surprise me. Just shows me how sad the disconnect is between the armed forces, the vets, and the vast majority of the public. "Stay out of sight until we need you, then come to our rescue". Just pathetic.

Just goes to show that the military is here to defend EVERYONE...even if 30 minutes later, they would spit on you!!! The irony of it is fantastic!!!

Just another reason I am not fit to be in the service. When they came running for my help, after spitting on me, I would just load up my mouth and give them a dose of my own ammo. I are so bad!

My uncle was spit on when he got back from Vietnam in San Francisco. They just got off the airplane and were walking into the terminal. He and others still had side arms on. What were they thinking? Even though I spit on you please don’t shoot me because we may need your protection soon.
Gipsy your right many countries dis us until they need some help. We are all becoming very tired of it.

I don't know what took so long. Even as a little kid, when the guys were coming back from nam, I was sickened by the way those tired, hurt, so sad looking men were being treated. Saw a man in a wheel chair at the mall, and people were yelling at him and one knocked his hat off his head. I was shocked, and ran over, grabbed his hat, and gave them all the most vicious hate looks I could. I wanted to scream at them, but was afraid I would get in trouble for being so disrespectful to adults. I started crying when I saw his eyes tear up when I handed him the hat. Then this onery little kid turned to this crowd and said, "You are mean! Go AWAY!" First time I had really challenged ANY adult, and was scared out of my mind, which is why I probably remember it so well. But they did tuck tail and go away. My mom hugged me til I stopped hurting inside from seeing all that cruelty. I will never forget that day. It was the day I learned, "Mean people suck!"
