So, Jase, must make you want to scream "I'm healed, I'm healed!!!"
How much time? It depends on who instigated the breakup, because the person
who decided the relationship was over, leaves 'in their mind', and emotionally
seperates long before the physical leaving, so really, they are over the relationship
before they even step out the door for the last time.
I think some people get over a breakup quickly. when it's over, it's over.
Other people need to process, revisit, rehash, understand, and on and on.
I think it is a personal and situational length of time, not the same for all.

For me it been several years I am more of a single person and
don't go looking for love, so what am I doing here?
Friendship and companionship. If it happens it happens.

Good point, Forestrose.....the memories are going to be there, be it 2 weeks or 2 years. All of my relationships have been very long term, so it is hard to just say, "It has been six weeks, maybe I'll......" But that is just me.

I really think it makes a difference in how the split-up happened. who left who?
was it divorce or death?? did you really love that other person with your whole heart???
A lot of different scenarios here--so hard to tell----hugs--lotsa

Affairs of the heart are tricky. i have learned not to judge a persons feelings because only they own them. I cannot say whether it is right or wrong because I'm not feeling what she is. However a persons actions are subject to a closer look. I don't believe there is any time frame between love per se, but I do think it does take a fair amount of time to establish.

Love probably means something different to her than it does to you settee.
Maybe what she receives from the relationship she is in is enough for her to feel like she is in love.
Some of us on the other hand love so deeply that it takes a long time to get over one and into another. A deep love is something that breaks your heart when it ends and creates doubt about wanting to get into another love relationship out of fear of getting hurt again.
Forget the past and jump on the love that you are afraid of getting into. You only live once and time is running out.
Happy Trails

When a person feels secure & strong enough to give love to someone else rather than take something from the new person, they are ready for relationship again. When you are healing you are thinking more about yourself, when you can love someone without a guarantee & feel good about it, I think you are genuine & ready

Time????? I really don't think there are any rules about time when it comes to love and emotions. If there life wouldn't be so messy sometimes.

it could take forever or less than a minute: as long as the next love isn't compared to the previous love in any sense of romance or even deeper in the aspect of the emotional, the physical and the spirtual sense of any relationship...

I had enough "ammunition" to begin hating her immediately - once and for all - but - that still isn't the way it happened. You spend so much time thinking about someone over all those years, in that way... having them fill that special place in your life... that it's still a real evolution to get through all of the different emotional stages, I think. I'm getting it all into the proper perspective, finally. She was no "friend" of mine... ultimately... unfortunately... and, that IS the "bottom-line"...

I'm not sure there IS an answer to that question.....sooooo many variables....I think my deepest LOVE was when I married and had a family...planned for it to last forever. When it did not, I was devastated, and it was necessary to take the time to heal, while going on with my new role.
All relationships after that, I'm not sure I labeled them....just enjoyed them while they lasted. Some I ended and others were ended for me. But, one thing was in my favor. I KNEW I WAS GOING TO SURVIVE.
Now? Well, at my age, I may not label them either....but, I don't have enough time left on this earth for this imperfect lady to look for the perfect partner....I think I'll be very happy to have friendship, companionship, compatibility, AND love.....and, oh yes.....I'm still young enough for chemistry......
And I do not believe that there is only ONE man in this entire world who can furnish me with all that.....It has to be lived and cultivated and that takes time.
Just my thoughts.
