Way to go weaim!!! You go girl! I'm so glad you did that with bargaining them down. My mom's dad did that sort of thing all the time. I kinda picked up some of what I seen him do. Congrats!!!
knight...ouch on your roof both times!! I had never thought of the insurance agent getting paid more for no paying the claims ..but it makes perfect sense. This lady was so sure she had me ..till I told her I had the pictures!!! Congrats on fighting the system of the insurance companies and winning!!!

I learned a long time ago to NEVER deal with an insurance company without a public adjuster....I don't know if they have them in your state or if it is too late, but before I cashed the check....I would check it out.....
they do all the arguing and will get you way more than the insurance company adjuster will give you.....have had to do it twice and made out very well both times....

yep and I embrace the challenge...I find that when something's broke I actually read up on the problem before I get it fixed...or try to fix it myself.. Now I have a whole shed of tools...best thing about it a lot of people can fix just don;t have the right tools..I find that if I need something done because I can't do it my self..having the tools makes people more receiptive in helping and cheaper...
when it comes to the truck..I will call and get quotes before I take it anyplace and I ask alot of questions...

The guy they sent here a couple of days after the tornado was a contractor from up north of here. Somehow they had him as their adjuster. The actual office of insurance company is in Georgia. Anyways...I wasn't that impressed with the guy..but he told me that he thought that all the roof needed to be replaced but the insurance company might not see it that way and would only do half of the roof. I don't know what happened between the time he was here and they got his estimate..but the letter I received on Friday was for only replacing a few shingles. I'm just thankful that I had taken the pics of all the damage..prior to anything that was temporarily fixed. By her only wanting me to get one roofing contractor to send in an estimate..I'm figuring that she could see by the pics that the entire roof did need fixed. My brother owns a construction company and I'm going to have him find me a good roofing contractor to check out my roof. Wish me luck!!

that was someone working for the insurance....a public adjuster works for YOU....and has your interest at heart, here they get 6% of your settlement...
an example...roof problem....they wantd to give us like $350....well when our adjuster got done....we had $1600......

they are so worth it....like the figures say....they get down to the cost of each nail....Good Luck...you can usually find them in the yellow pages...

lol morles...Just this past week I missed the nail and hit my thumb with the hammer..needless to say..I don't want that to happen again!!
