One of the problems we have here Storm, is the propaganda in the form of "information", that we have available. We are bombarded with misleading information about countries with national health care. Such as they wait for months for operation, less quality because of no competition, etc. Not sure who benefits the most from keeping things the way they are, maybe drug companies or the billions of dollars spent on paperwork. But someone spends a lot of money on defeating public health care. Honestly if you look at our public school system, it is understandable why people worry.
I myself believe that most people, who go into medicine, do it because they want to help other people, not for the money. If you take away the cost of malpractice insurance, I think Doctors would still make a very good living in this country, so it does not make much sense for them to fight it.
Medical care in this country is always going to be for those who can pay for it until we get national medical care. Will you sponsor me? and I will come there and become an Aussy.

Queenin our system if you require elective surgery there is a waiting list, but if you have an emergency or require urgent corrective surgery, you get treated straight away. Even private health care has a waiting list for certain things. Sadly if you have predetermine conditions, then getting to stay in Aus is very hard and there is a two year person where you can't get public heath when you first come here, except emergency help which i always free. Doctors are free, or a very small fee, as are specialists. As veteran, I get all my healthcare free and straight away, they even pay for my travel to and from medical services.

I get this other knee done and I shouldn't need any healthcare for a few years so I am ok. Here I come, so get ready for me. All I have to do is get rich enough to afford a ticket to ride.
