i was the same way, birth control pills made me a lot moodier. i figure since i'm not in any stable relationship now anyway and i use condoms i won't bother going back on the pill for now.

If someone on this thread hasn't mentioned this already then I will just tell you that the mood swings are an effect of the hormones that are in conventional birth control pills. You need to find an option that has a low dose of hormones or no hormones at all. I become extemely depressed when my hormones are tampered with. I was given the NuvaRing, which contains the lowest dose of hormones, and I received the same reaction  Its really all about trial and error. I would recommend an IUD as others on this thread have done. This is the option that I too am interested in but have met with some disapproval by doctors. Often, doctors will NOT give IUD's to women who do not yet have children, are not married or to women who have not yet tried a variety of birth controls. I need to find a frickin doctor that will budge so that I can get one...anyhow, good luck.

IUD is not a shot...i believe, though could be wrong, that its a small, often times copper, looking device in the shape of a "T". I doctor inserts this into the uterus (i believe) and a woman cant conceive anywhere form 5 to 10 years depending on which IUD she wants. It does not protect against disease but it is nearly 100 per cent effective in not getting pregnant. Doctors often will not give them to women who are not in relationships because these women have a greater risk of not using condoms and therefore, getting std's. There is also a small risk that a woman wont be able to conceive ever again after removing the IUD so sometimes doc's wont give them to women who dont yet have kids. IUD's in my opinion are the best answer.

Birth controls are hormones and yes they can affect your moods. I use to use the patch and it wasn't as bad as the pill. Plus I didn't have to worry about missing a pill  Same cost
