Well depending on your choice or birth control I guess you can look forward to the following little nuances:
* Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all
* Headaches
* Nervousness
* Depression
* Dizziness
* Acne
* Changes in appetite
* Weight gain
* Excessive growth of facial and body hair
* Hair loss
* Loss of bone mineral density
Sounds like a fun time!

LOL ge0ge0.
Yeah..reallllllllllll fun s/e's to contend with..NOT!
There are A LOT of forms of BC out there, but a person has to weigh the pros & cons carefully.
If a woman's a smoker, over 35, has migraines with aura (the visual disturbances that can accompany migraines), etc.--then those things have to be taken into consideration and the safest form prescribed to her.
There have been reported deaths, as well as cases of strokes & heart attacks occuring with the patch, and I don't believe there have been re: NuvaRing.
Each method has its own pros & cons...
I'm on the generic brand of the Ortho Tri-Cyclen pill. It's Tri-Sprintec 28 Day pack, and has 3 wks. of active pills & 1 wk. (the last wk.) of inactive pills.
It's worked fine for me, and I've been on it since Jan. 30th. I was "worried" that it would give me any # of aggravating s/e's to contend with, especially in the sense that it'd make my migraines and headaches worse, but nope..just spotting the first 5 wks., which that was tolerable..especially once it stopped.
A mo. supply only costs me $9 (aka: one of Walmart's $4 prescriptions, but the female-related scripts are $9..at least they are in my state).
My GYN had recommended that I have an IUD inserted (the Mirena brand--but the plastic one, NOT the copper one). The IUDs have their pros & cons, of course/as well...
The plastic one can be placed for 5 years, and the copper one for 10.
One con of them is that SOME women can feel the strings, as well as can their partner--i.e. they get pinched (LOL).
Good luck with finding a form that works for you, gives you less s/e's (side effects), etc.

I went in with my honey and we got ourselves all tested for STD's and then I decided that my birth control of choice was the IUD... I got it last wk... It was easily put in and is good for 5 yrs...They have a copper IUD that is good for 10 years... I would have forgot to take those damn pills... The shot is known for weight gain, so I said no to that...Now we no longer will deal with condoms...what a nice difference in having that real feeling...best of luck jell...

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: osteoporosis (bone loss, which can lead to a woman breaking their a hip, suffering spinal fractures, etc.) has been linked with the Depo-Provera injection (shot).

i could never remember to take a pill every day. I went on the shot for 5 yrs, right up untill they told me that being on it for 5 yrs could make you sterile... however, for 4 yrs i didnt have "that time", mood swings, cramps, or anything else we suffer from.

I am on the Merina and i have the pamphlet to. Its false about the small risk of never being able to have children. The Doctor told me it doesn't complicate that at all. Once the 5 years are up or if you wanna take it out before, you can have children as if you weren't even on birth control at all.
