I think both have there similarities. IM a single father.my children have lived with me since my dev. Im no F/U just responsible. Im happy but its not always that way. WE all have lonley times. It not gender associated. Children need a parent not best freind, shopping buddy.
Single people are happiest when they are LOVED and APPRECIATED.

This is a can of worms! I think in depends on the individual. I personally am happy and content. I am one of those rare (or maybe odd it a better word!) people that is just as happy with my own company as I am being in a room full of people.

when i'm doing something i like i feel happy even if im alone, if i'm doing something i dont like i'm unhappy even if i'm with someone.
i think everyone is going to be happy sometimes, sad sometimes, angry sometimes that's how life turns it never stays on one point forever. each individual has a slightly different reaction to life.

I didn't meant that my kids bother me in one way or another...I was reffering myself about the free time for yourself mostly once in a while in the night to hang out or something like that...because believe me is hard enough not having friends to talk to or hang out, or family that comes to your house to visit and share with you and not having the free time neither someone to take care of your kids so you can have time for yourself to get to know people and things like that...because if something is TRUE we parents need sometime for ourselves, we need somebody to vent our problems and to talk to.
Ahh and on top of all that would be cool having your ex coming to your house telling you how cool was the party from last night and blah blah blah? I don't think so

how can we tell? what do we compare to what?
i can understand when u mentioned single women with kids, but don't know how to tell who's the happiest between single men no kids and single women no kids.
