When I was first separated and divorcing, I was one miserable puppy. I knew if i got back into a relationship quickly, I'd be in exactly the same boat a few years down the road. I backed away, and learned just the hell who i am. I played the computer game, but not like many, I surfed the net. I learned some java applications, even after my out of town trip to meet a gal who wasn't the person in the photos, started a web cam chat room. People started abusing it, getting nekkid and all, so I closed it. Created a total of 3 over the next couple years and all ended the same way. If I had any sense, I would created some of those porn websites. yeah, for $3.99/ min, you can talk to me.
However, I'm a bit slow. When i decided to throw myself back out there, heck, I couldn't afford to. In any event, still had my kids and their activities, so I kept my head down doing stuff with and for them.
I'm perfectly happy alone, but would love to have someone to share life. Share, not control or allow you to control. It's a partnership. 100% from both.
I think you will find the answer to this question the same as tossing a coin. Half the time it will be heads, half the time tails.

Wow, I'm perceiving way too much hate and anger in here. So much misunderstanding. Been reading this thread since the beginning and deducted that many of you have misinterpreted what one of you said. I understand what all of you want to say about children and what they all mean to all of us. I also understand what really ticked you off, but also see that you misinterpreted it.
First of all, Sweet, I see your point regarding how men are happier, at least in the subject about your ex husband playing with your head and ticking you off. I don't know him, but looks like his life is miserable and wants you to feel as much or more as he is. I don't know well your situation, but can only deduct certain things with what you said, and sticking to what I said before, many people over here didn't answer the question, just rambled on what others answered and the chain just went growing bigger and bigger, creating a false answer to the original question.
OK, enough said. Answering the main question, "Who is happiest, single men or women?", I'd say that it all depends on who. Being single is not easy, but neither it is being married. But if, the individual has kids, it's easier for the one who doesn't have kids all the time, so I would say in this case, that men are happier. If it's the other way around, it's the other. I'm not saying that kids are bothersome, God Forbid! What I try to say here is, that parenthood, responsibilities, play an important role in what we are doing, and spontaneity is not a luxury we can afford, unless it's with our kids.
Enough said, for now. This is my first post, but really hope that it's not the last. I'll be watching...

I am a man that enjoys being single, and it's not because I get to make babies and wh*re around.
Actually, I am the opposite of this stereotype. I am sexually abstinate and I don't spend a lot of time in bars and night clubs.
There is always judging and man-bashing. If all men are pathetic loser wh*res, then why even bother visiting a date site?

Reggie you make a very good point. But I never thought most men were like that. I stick with my original answer, but I also think in depends at what stage you are in your life. Raising children by yourself is very difficult. Having all that responsibility alone can make you question "why me". Been there, done that, could of wrote a book!
