Let's go tubing and play in the water for a bit. All are welcome that would like to attend (including children, and that is up to the parents as to whether they want to bring them and watch after them).

It's not saying you NEED all that stuff. Those are just suggestions. You can bring or use whatever is your choice. Although if you burn easily, I do recommend the sunscreen tho.

I know. I was only kidding. It does sound like fun, but I'd have to think on this for a few days. I can't swim. I know you have life rests on, but I once went white whiter rafting, and fell in. Despite wearing a lifevest, I still went under and someone had to pull me out.

I'll have to check my on call schedule. 
I went down that side of the river last year and didn't like it. The other side is much better. I have a raft and no one gets wet if someone wanted to share it with me, provided I can go.

Oh. Maybe I will go. I was thinking it was like went I went white water rafting in North Carolina. One time I fell in when the raft hit rocks. I went over the last of the rapids without the raft-and Mom holding me as tight as she was able.

Anybody ever done this in May? I am thinking it is like the River in Helen in July...
Not to be a spoilsport or anything, but that water is coming off the bottom of Lake Lanier... Current water temperatures are about 50 degrees Fahr...

Thinking in the next few weeks, it is not going to warm up to a comfortable level.
The water in the Chattahoochee is much colder than you think! Water is released from the bottom of Buford Dam and is approximately 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This cold water is great for trout, but dangerous for you. Beware of Hypothermia -- the severe lowering of the body's temperature. When exposed to these low temperatures, exhaustion or unconsciousness can occur in less that 30 minutes. If you fall into this cold water, get out quickly and warm yourself. Hypothermia can occur even in the warmest summer months.

I used to ride the hooch over around Powers Ferry @ 285 back in the 1980's... Even in the middle of summer, we stayed out of the water mostly... There was a nice place to jump off the cliff about 25' into the water just north of where the river crosses 285, but they probably shut that down years (decades?) ago...
