Hi All -
Just got back from the NASCAR race in California. It was a great race. I'm rooting for KC Kayne since he is from Washington. Boy, it was a great race, but COLD - brrrrr.
Did y'all notice the fuel burn-off as they were driving. I think it is because they have gone to unleaded fuel. Was really neat to see as they came around Turn One.
Byeeee...........

Nah i really don't get Nascar
I do enjoy the quarter mile challenge , but i think because i rather race then watch a race
I have always felt the need for speed since i was a kid , so it was easy to build my own car and hit the blacktop
But if you enjoy it then that's all that matters

I dunno much bout Nascar, either. Years ago Me and a friend useta race in the demo derbys. Well, he did. I was the pit crew. Then we went on to bigger things like stock car racing. Back then ya just dragged a car up outta the brush and stripped it down an put it back together and headed for the derby or race. Bein in the pits and playin a part of it all, was fun, I'll admit. If we did good enuff to win beer money, we thought we's doin great.

But to go and sit for hours an watch someone else race around. Naw, not me.

O my gosh I love Nascar! My driver is Kasey Kahne (the other redhead.haha) and I'm kinda starting to go for Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick. ; ) Dale Jr. I'm still a fan, but I don't know what happened with him for awhile he just kinda lost me. And Jeff Gordon, I used to be so crazy for him. haha. So over him now!

Ok. So who do yall not like??

I don't like:

Tony Stewart
Kurt Busch
Kyle Busch

I'm a big nascar fan and i gota say i dontno why everyone gota be haten on Jeff #24. I was a fan of his in 93 and i will be a loyal fan till i die. I admire #3 fans but untill #8 wins a championship he is just running of daddys fame. That's not right you should have to earn-hart it. it's just one mans oppinion

I worked with Motor Racing Outreach for several years so got to meet a lot of the drivers. One that really impressed me is DW. He is very down to earth.Bill Elliot is also earthy. Jr. has his head stuck too high in the clouds. Stacy Compton ( bush driver) is another that I really liked.

That Black #3 was the best. His son is my favorite and yes he has an ego. If your dad was the Intimadator, you might have an ego too. I know I would. It's a different generation and a different era. Only time will tell what Dale jr. will do. Then we can judge him. Sunshine, when you worked with the Outreach program, did Dale sr. ever do anything to help? I heard stories he help in other areas, but never wanted anyone to know what he did. I would love to hear your thoughts and maybe a story or 2. I grew up watching him from '79 on. He was and still is my favorite driver. It's just that now he's racing on God's speedway. #3 forever!

Wow, I forgot I posted this topic and found it today. Thanks for all your thoughts. I agree that Jr hasn't won a championship yet and without the name he wouldn't be as popular... but he does ))

My ex is a #24 fan so that wasn't any fun. I cheered when 24 did good and he cheered when Sr would have trouble... perfect harmony. No I'm not bitter

I also like tony stewart (he's really cleaned up his act/attitude and I respect that in a person), mark martin (what a gentleman and a fair racer) and elliot sadler (is a cutie boy..wish he could get his day in the sun).

I've been to Phoenix AZ, Sonoma CA (yearly race for my birthday.. dont have to fly!), Daytona FL (the only race in 37 years to rain out there.. how lucky!), and Fontana CA. Still want to hit Charlotte for a good old fashion race experience, Bristol under the lights and go back to Daytona for a FULL race. The atmosphere is really worth it. Soon I'll start taking the kids so they can experience it.... they'll will probably just complain LOL

Take care all!

Tall,
Jr. never did anything for the betterment of motor racing outreach. I don't know if you know what MRO is but they do the church services for the drivers, venders and fans there at the track. If you attend the races and have even been given a 5X7 card with a drivers photo on it it came from MRO. Only drivers who are Christian have their names on the cards. On the back is their testimony to Christ. I actually have one of Jeff Gordon before his divorce. After that MRO did not use him. Some of the drivers are Robbie Looms,Kyle Petty,Jimmy Maker, Dale Garrett,Mark Martin,Michael Waltrip, Jeff Green( had him autograph a card) When I was active with MRO I was the blue haired clown at the tracks.
Tony Stewert for all his hot headed antics is really a decent guy down under it all. He once had the seats taken out of his plane and had a fan flown to his home. The guy had been injured and had to be transported back to his home on a stretcher. He wanted it kept quiet.
As far as Jr. is concerned he just needs to mature a little. That will come with time.
