When mankind began, there wasn't much to do in the form of entertainment(books, radio,tv,board games etc.) at the end of a day except to communicate w/ one another...."did i tell you what the little spotted lamb did today!"Adam,Cain would'nt kill the rabbit,so now our dinner is just going to be broth"Mother(Eve),God favors Abel and it makes me mad"...Do you see?
SO talking and storytelling was what they enjoyed doing. As mankind grew in size and people started moving away from eachother, they probably got together from time to time(like us)and shared each others stories of what happening in their lives. Then they returned to their homes and at night their kids would say...Dad (Noah),tell us the lamb story of our greatgrandfather,Adam.(im just using random names, they are not in any chronological order)! well, the kids have heard the "same ole story" night after night and dad(Noah) decides to make it more interesting (embellish),so he tells them....When your greatgrandfater was out in the field one day,his favorite spotted lamb (Adam "believes" w/ all his heart that its a "sign from God that hes spotted" ,so he considers it (Sacred),led all the other, much bigger, sheep home w/ just one bleat. The next night the spots on the lamb become red and blue, and the night after that lambs wool turned golden.Truly a work of God!!!!
I am in no shape, way,or form trying to make a joke out of the Bible or minimize the importance of God,what im trying to show is how things do get exaggerated and can be portrayed not exactly how they occured.
Its like I tell kids who ask me...how did Noah get "all" the animals in the ark? Back then, there were'nt "all" the different species/breeds of animals that we now have.
The people who wrote it,took a lot into account and mostly went by what they had proof of,(what was written on ancient walls, scrolls and paper)that is not to say that maybe, just maybe, some of it was'nt
embellished, but we should not criticize people who "in their heart" believe it word for word and the people who do believe it word for word, should not criticize those of us who believe its not the "Absolute Truth" Thanks for listening!!!Peace

I have never even explored any aspect of evolution, just because its not high on my list of things I would like to learn about. There's always tomorrow, though, right?
As far as your Noah question...The only answer i can come up w/ on such short notice is that,It took him many, many years to build the ark for apparent reasons, maybe one of them was that he needed to build extra heavy duty stalls for the animals to keep the man eating ones away from him and his family. MAYBE?????

I'll be happy to discuss this and anything w/you,but would prefer not to get nasty ok? It sounded to me (and i could be presupposing)like you said animals came from my a--(butt)your anus????what am i being too sensitive or taking things to literally??? Just be nice ok? OK! NOW....
My point about the different "kind"of the "same"animal is kind of like this.....
Like humans, animal breed w/others and hence you have different, colors, sizes, shapes, temperments etc...and it just continued and continues to be.Its called Population, some grow and get bigger in #s ,some decrease in #s and some are now extinct.Am I making any sense?

This is why I like non-angry debating because reason is used. This is also the reason I like to hear what other people think because they think about different aspects than I do, but of the kind of reasoning. We are not given minds to think and expected to keep them bound. But to think outside the box.

Thanks for setting me straight on some things. It has certainly motivated me to learn more about creation & evolution!I probably should'nt post on things i am not fully educated on,but as far fetched as some of my theories are (and they are just mine)i still don't see the "harm" of teaching my kids things in a way they can understand.I said it before and I'll say it again...I honestly don't think I'm scarring them for life or harming them.
Now when their older and they learn the "truth"I can't picture them arguing w/someone and saying...NO,thats not true,my mom told me,bla bla bla and she has "infinate wisdom",can you????? BE NICE!!!!!!

If you use bible stories as stories for teaching purposes no it would not be harmful but if they are taught that they can do anything to others and be forgiven then yes it is harmful. That leads to not taking responsibility for your actions or thinking about it before you do them.
It is not good to carry grudges because it is harmful to the person carrying the grudge. They become bitter and angry and cannot move past that point in their lives.
I do not think the bible is not good as a teaching tool in that respect cause people of all ages have dealt with the same kinds of moral issues and wisdom comes from many places.
But to teach it as if it is the only truth is not helpful but can be more harmful for many years in their lives.

From the first day I started participating in the forums, your opinions were, and still are, among one of my favorites! You are honest and fair and a joy to learn from!!!!
I do teach my kids, grandkids, and family friends kids, the importance of forgiveness!Jesus (God)wants us to forgive everyone.
But just because He will forgive you anything,it does not mean that you continue doing what is not acceptable in His eyes and the eyes of good, honest people.I believe that instinctively we all know (hopefully we were taught)what is right or wrong, good or bad(to a certain degree)and seek approval from God(if you believe)loved ones and the general population.Of course there are exceptions and thats for another thread.
Around here we encourage(expect)apologies "im sorry",we usually respond w/"its ok",dont do it again,ok? Cant ask for much more can we?? Thanks for listening!!Peace
