Not ready to commit yet (I need some healing time), but thought I'd at least start testing the waters, maybe find someone who's been down the path of unwanted divorce before and can lend some words of wisdom.
I'm not an introvert, but I do tend to be introspective at times. Just don't get me talking on a subject I'm passionate about. You'll have to shut off the air to get me to stop.
I'm a bit of an artist and romantic (though I have much to learn in both areas). I've loved one woman, and one woman only for 27 years. The last few have been very painful years, but you don't stop loving just because it hurts. Love is far too important for that.
I enjoy photography and have toyed with charcoals, pastels, acrylics, oils and more recently, computer graphics.
I'm a "touchy-feely" kind of guy. I like holding hands, hugging, kissing. I believe the greatest sin in the marriage bed is selfishness. Physical intimacy should be about giving not taking -- a blessing to both sides.
Jesus taught the value of relationship and the danger of religion. Relationship is dynamic, constantly changing, hopefully growing. Religion is static -- As Jesus put it, "The Spirit (ie. Relationship) Makes alive; The letter (ie. Religion) Kills."
I value in this order, my relationship to God, my relationship to family, my contribution at work and in the community (including church).
I like the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing. I enjoy fine dining, concerts, and recently I've been trying to teach these old feet how to dance. I've got the basic box step, but would love to learn more.
I don't need animals in my life, but I'm very comfortable with them -- dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, horses, tropical fish. (I might have to draw the line at snakes, spiders and pet crocodiles.)
I love sunsets, walks in the mountains (or on the beach), browsing at art galleries or rummaging at swap meets. Not a sports fanatic, but I can enjoy a ball game once in a while -- baseball, football, foosball, etc.
I bowl poorly, but I have fun doing it. I'm mediocre at darts, but have fun doing it.
I love talking, but I'm also a good listener. Good communication is critical to building a relationship. And a relationship, like love, is built, not fallen into.
For now, if you'd like to exchange e-mails, possibly date, I'd enjoy that. Eventually, I'll be looking for one person to invest the rest of my life into.
