5 hours in the ER

In the hallway,bed number two,
rested there,even wore my shoes.
Watched those folks hustle here and there
everywhere but for MY care.
The folks around me,we had fun
while we watched them run and run,I had 5
some had more,one at 8 before the door.
I smiled a lot and made comments,
the doctors thought I lost my sense
i told them,no,I NEVER had,
after a minute they said,"my bad!,
we SEE that now,we must admit!"
Not to the third floor,I wont permit!("Crazy" ward)
They have a sense of humor too,
and those sexy nurses in their blues,
whoo boy,did I have a blast,
and the folk by me that happened to pass,
smiled and spoke to me with cheer
even through their obvious fear
an old couple,60 years!,laughed so hard
they both had tears!
We knocked the health care and the place
we laughed out loud and in their face
they enjoyed it,not too much
everyone was serious and such,
but honestly, when i did go
my situation unresolved...(I got some pills!)
The ladies i had complimented looked at me with love!
One told me ,"oh I wish all patients were like you!"
I said,"yeah you say that NOW,say,do you have a sister ,too?"
(I had asked one if she was married,she said yes,but her sister wasnt! )
So I left and smiled as I did,pills in stomach,
bill in hand,
I told the doc,(she was 28 ,if that!) "I understand...
you can only do so much,understaffed
and rushed and such,
I thank you for what you did do
and I really appreciate it too!"
She smiled then and said,"Oh,thanks
your a darn good guy and made me laugh. Monday is the day from HELL!"
You know what,I could tell,
and that is why I made 'em smile,
if only for a little while!
