NIGHT NOISE

That noise you hear by night, by day
The sound, it keeps your eyes from sight
The noise you must have, so you say,
To help you sleep and dream at night
That senseless noise to help you sleep,
Voices, music, they betray
Your soul, the soul you cannot keep
When you awake and rise at Day
Silence; dream you silent, I say
Give way to the shadows’ peace
The colors, shapes, they come to stay
Your soul they offer short release
Then return you to the hour
Of Night the day conceals
And give the gift of sight received;
And pray this broken world it heals.
