WILDERNESS MANSION
"Knight Of Colours"
You cannot know the things i've seen,
The things that i have dreamed
You didn't come to my place
When invited,
Were not too much excited
At the prospect
You may never see as i have seen
The places i have been
-- Heard the sunrise' golden silence
I've kissed the crimson rays
Of the sunset, end of days,
As it burned the jagged mountains
With its haze.
Have you inhaled the desert rain?
As it washed the rainbow stones
And drenched the cholla with its tear?
The scent, the romance and
The sorrow, i hold dear.
It is a lonesome beauty that i know;
too much sorrow,
too much pain.
too much sadness,
too much shame.
It seems too much for me to bear alone
And so i burden you with it,
That you may cast your stone
Or shun me to the knees on which i sit.
But you cannot experience
What i've known.
The tent of vast Creation
Is my home.
My castle, my fortress, my palace,
My crumbling mansion made of this:
Pillars of oak and pine rising to the ceiling
Of star and cloud and blue and golden mist
My home theatre blasts away surrounding stereo
Of laughing birds and coyotes, and the river's roaring hiss.
And when i'm gone too long
All of these
I greatly miss.
Join me in my lonely mansion
Deep within the desert's crown
Only God and i remember
How it was before the builders
Tore it down.
