Dating implies having sex? Wow! So what do you call it when you aren't having sex?

I consider dating to be courting, going out and doing things together, not quickly falling into the routine of hanging out at each other's houses every day acting like married folks.

Dating is not necessarily exclusive and yes, I can and do date without having sex. I can't go on one date with someone and all of a sudden decide to be exclusive. I mean, I won't be sleeping around but if I'm exclusive with someone (not dating anyone or talking to anyone else), that's a full blown relationship, a commitment. I need to date someone for a minute before I decide if I'm willing to commit to relationship.

Simply saying that I'm dating someone just doesn't seem as serious. Being in a relationship with and referring to that person as my boyfriend, does. I guess "dating" means I'm exploring the option of being in a serious relationship with that person and implies nothing more, nothing less.

T u hit the nail on the head with that one dating is about getting to know that person to see if u want to take it to the next level it doesn't mean u are locked in a relationship but when I do date it's just one person I don't have multiple women lined up on the side if it doesn't work out with who I'm dating I start all over again I may be crazy for being this way but I feel if ur going to date someone they deserve ur full attention if I have to compete for someone's love I don't want it love comes naturally the chemistry is there or it's not and the only way to find out is to date

I think of myself very well and that is why I will not compete for someone's love because I deserve better I shouldn't have to compete for someone's love it may take a month or a yr of dating who knows but if I have to compete with two or five other guys over the same woman u may as well throw her in the lions den and let them fight over her cause it will only cause BS and drama

The good ol' saying I have realllllly started to believe in since late 2009.

The things I have said are based on a few date's I wouldnt really consider it competing for (someone's love) cause that takes months for me love doesnt just come in a month of hanging out and a few dates. I have to really know someone and trust them to love them.

It is NEVER easy to set anyone you love free. But it does really take some time for some people to realize the one they need, want, love is right under their nose and they will be top priority in that persons life. Some relationships that are truly meant to be will actually survive the bad along with the good. They just take patience, love and passion.

That's what I feel makes me old fashioned. I WANT the man to make the decisions about where to go etc. I want him to bring me or send me flowers, open doors for me, pull chairs out for me, show me massive pda, cuddle as much as we can, hold each other while falling asleep, kiss as often as possible and wherever we want, etc. Sure I don't mind taking control once in a while to change things up, but the man is the man and I'm the woman. I love to be spoiled, treated like a lady/princess and fawned over, defended, held omg the list goes on and on and on.

When I say I am dating someone that means to me that we are friends getting to know each other and seeing if things are going to go anywhere...We can still talk to other's unless we just want to give the other person all of our time. Otherwise it doesnt actually mean you are with that person and only that person.
