Since the early 80's I've been using Slick 50 in different engines with varying results and was wondering if anybody has any opinion on the latest "Advanced Formula" product. I've also tried different oil additives in varying combinations all with the goal of increasing the MPG of the treated vehicle. I have found that this is a subject of many differing opinions, heated debates, conflicting research, outrageous claims and outright frauds, and still the products continue to be marketed and sold.
It would be interesting to hear from those of us who keep good records and have had both good and bad experiences from using these types of products. With the price of gasoline rising daily we might all benefit from finding out what works and what doesn't.

I bought an f150 in 1990 and started using slick 50 from the first oil change.I used the truck in construction and usually pulled a 16 ft construction trailer with it.I still have the truck 265000 miles and I stil drive it every day.It worksfor me.

I'm a huge Slick 50 fan. I've used it in all my vehicles and have gotten at least 150,000 miles out of them before getting rid of them. My truck is an 02 Silverado 1500HD Crew and I've got 133,000 on it and still get about 16-17 mpg on the highway cruising at 65 MPH. Great stuff.

I use 100% synthetic oil or semi synthetic in my car.
I get the oil when it is on sale. I also buy a good filter like Wix.
I find there is no need for other additives.

I figure any product that reduces internal friction, prolongs engine life and conserves fuel can't be bad news, but I used to substitute one quart of oil with one quart of Marvel Mystery Oil with every oil change, and the results were nothing short of amazing.
However, that was before some outfit bought the company out and altered its formula, so I wouldn't dare vouch for it today. I think in vehicles built after 2000, you're much better off using synthetic oils without the additives anyway.

Well I have a 1999 350 Chevy Suburban--and never put anything but 5W-30 in--and the changes are every 3000 miles. I never had any real issues with it--it gets good mileage and it is cheaper than a new one. NOW--I just bought 2 new Dodge Diesel 6 speeds--with a Jake brake--the diesel additives and the extra oil and the 6 dollar a gallon diesel price is killing me. What a moron I am for ever buying these two trucks. I even tried the Bully dog thing--500 dollars for nothing--did nothing but get me a warning from the dealer...seems as if the warranty is in jeapordy. Got to read the fine print--don't ever believe what some toothless wonder tells you.

I've used Sea Foam a few times, after every oil change. You can put it in your gas tank, directly into the throttle body or carburetor, or in your oil. Seems like my Jeep runs a little better afterwards. Lubes the upper cylinders, helps clean the fuel system, maybe a mpg increase.
