Most of the guys I've met on here are from out of town and when it comes down to "let's meet", most of them want me to come to their town to meet.
I'm not wiling to drive out of town to meet anyone!
What do you think? Would you take a long trip just to meet someone? Would a long distance relationship even work?

Depends on how far it is and how sure I am that I want to meet the person. For example I'm not going to drive to Arizona from South Carolina to meet someone. I would go to Michigan or Florida because I have family in those states.

Someone flew 1200 miles to meet me; I lived in Alaska at the time. Depends on the people... don't put a distance on love... what are the chances the the "one" for you is within a 5 block radius?!?!

I can see that in both cases it's the guy doing the traveling. Which, I think it's how it should be.

I guess it all boils down to the distance you are talking about and how well you feel you know the person. For example, if you are in the same town, but on different sides then I'd find a place to meet halfway. I would never have anyone pick you up at your home until you have meet them at least once and have gotten to know them face to face.

My man is 1.5 hours from me. It's a major test for us because he drives a van(ie gass sucker) and I'm not allowed anywhere near the wheel of a car.

That is awesome.
I am not willing to drive "to meet". But if I find a guy that is willing to drive the distance to meet me and we hit it off and he continues to come see me a few times, I would be willing to drive to continue seeing him.

I'm talking about "driving out of town" distance, 1 hour drive or more.
I wouldn't have a problem dating someone in my same town but just not a lot of luck here.
I'd never let anyone pick me up at home either. I would always make sure I have an "escape" vehicle just in cause I need one.

You are right, I don't see how a long distance relationship would work either.
I won't settle for a once a month visit nor once a week.
If I'm in a relationship, I want to do "spur of the moment" things, pick me up at work for lunch, quick coffee between jobs, etc. .....can't do that if he has to drive an hour to get here, unless he has a 3hr lunch break or he doesn't have a job.
Just wish there were more locals on this site

If I have to drive much more than 1 hour away, I'm going to have a plan for somewhere to stay, like a hotel, or with this person if things are going well enough. I'd also try to dedicate a full weekend, or even an extended(3 or 4 days) if possible. That way you aren't driving for nothing. As far as just having to drive though, I enjoy it, just do some recon online first and make a backup plan if things begin to dwindle.
 My gawd... You live in KS. isn't every where more than an hour away... I think if you want to drive less than an hour, You'll be dating your own sister... or cousin.

I will bike 3 miles. When snowy will only walk 4 blocks. When my grandma has station wagon warmed up will have her drive me ten miles or less for booty calls. But u will have to bring me home.

You'd be surprised at how many women on DH do the initial travelling to meet someone. For a long distance relationship to work someone will have to eventually move to the other.

My two cents is that on the first time meeting, the guy should go to the woman. As far as distance wise goes, it doesn't really matter if love is there. Although it would take several trips to get to love.

I used to commute 211 miles every weekend for 5 years for a woman... Until she became more interested in the casino than me. But to answer your question, Yes a long distance relationship can work... Its hard but doable.

That's definitely a personal choice.
Although you may want to consider thinking outside the box. If you're not open to a long distance relationship .......don't give it another thought.
P.S. For your safety have him come to you if that'll make you more comfortable. If he choses not to, well you'll then know that he's not for you.
Me personally, I don't have a problem with it. Its about who you are and what you can handle.

Not to break the status quo... but wth! I have a bit of wanderlust which has been at times a bit of a liability. However, with a little planning a potential disappointment can be a wonderful opportunity. More often than not, many just want a text buddy to stroke their ego. So, I plan around concerts and interesting areas.. if they show, BONUS! Distance can be a benefit if ya got that in mind to begin with.

I have always done the driving at least at first. I wouldnt date someone more than an hour away . It just is too hard to keep the relationship going. Of course I live in Atlanta, there's tons of singles here.

Then shes selfish,cause if i had a man who drove over a 100 miles too come see me then i would drive too see him down the road too.Thats being fair.I use too date a man who drove 300 miles only on weekends all the time for a yr.Didnt complain or nothing.I think it just depends on how much each other cares and all.Ive drove in my times too see a man and taken turns ,even flew on a plane and visit for a week.So i quess it depends on how you like that person are willing too get in a good relationship with them.

ideally you want someone close like within 10 miles and you don't want to have to deal with traffic on the streets and freeways, but if you're only meeting once a week, I say personally I'd drive a max of 45 miles. If you decide to see that person on a regular basis, then yeah...a much closer distance like 5-10 miles is what I'd be looking for.

If there seems to be real interest. I say "why wouldn't you drive". I do try to keep the range within an hour just for the ease of a possible relationship. But as I've read in some previous post love really knows no bounds and I agree with that.
