As a sidenote, it is absolutely unfathomable to me to knowingly put your kid in danger like that.

Get law enforcement involved. If he's a true registered sex offender, I would assume he's not allowed around children.
Even though it would be your first thought, don't do something that is going to land you in jail. You won't be able to protect your child from there.

I know someone who has decided to move away from her family to be with a sex offender, and yes he is not allowed to be with children..alone. Really all depends on what the situation is.
I would personally contact a lawyer or someone who specializes in this, because you will get a mix of ideas/suggestions here which adds fuel to the fire. So sorry about your situation.

The logical answer:
Call your local Social Services and get in touch with CPS now. Don’t wait for answers here; get someone whose job it is to protect children involved right now. If need be use the 800 number off a milk carton…the national service may take an hour longer to reach the same people you can right now, but it will get to your locals. If there is a need to get your son away from his mother they will act quickly; if not they will certainly be involved enough to help you legally down the road. If a seemingly valid complaint is made they have to investigate it and they have to act quickly. In my area it is usually within hours if a child is believed to be at risk.

If he's a sex offender.. find out what the crime was. Did he get drunk and pee in public... did he rape someone? Did he get caught trying to have sex with a young boy or girl online?
Find out what the crime was.. make sure that she is aware of this. If she is than you call the department of human services or a lawyer and you explain to them what is going on. You get your son away from there and only allow her supervised visitation with him no where in site.
Do it now before it's too late and something does happen to him.
Just a side note... there are plenty of sickos on here.. you might want to think about not having a picture of your son on this site.

The number in Florida in 1-800-96ABUSE if you feel DCF needs to investigate. Just know that by calling, you can be opening up a can of worms into not only your ex's living circumstances, but yours as well. Once they get involved, it can be difficult (and sometimes expensive) to get them out of your life. I worked for them in Florida for a short time-- the day I turned in my laptop and cell was one of the best days of my life.
After reading a few posts, I have to agree that you need to find out what this guys actual charges are. There are a lot of reasons that someone can get "tagged" as a SO. Don't act in haste.

OH-- and on a humerous note.... don't mix it up and call the wrong number.
I spent years working in mental health and one day, a new case manager came to my office to ask for the abuse hotline number. I was distracted and told her 86ABUSE. She came back 10 minutes later and said "good one-- you got me". 86 is a dominatrix sex line. She thought I did it on purpose to mess with her.

I feel u summer on getting dcf involved, i know a couple people who wanted help, and in the end dcf just did ehat they wanted to and screwed over the person seeking help.

Find out what he was charged with. If he is registered it is fairly easy as there are online databases for every state. Find that out before you do anything else. You do not want people involved if there is no reason for them to be involved.

Taking everything i have not to. I dont want something bad used against me in court, that is the absolutely only reason. Eventually a little retaliation is definitely in order, but i think ill hit em where it hurts, the pocket book.

Look him up. And find out what he was charged with. If it pertains to kids. Go kick his teeth in. Or call me I will come do it for you. ( not to justify him ). But you can get a sex offender label for pissing on the street. Are system sucks but like I said look him up and go from there. Good luck.

You are so wrong here it is not even funny. First it all depends what he was arrested for doing and with whom. if it was not against a child he will still be able to be around them and the cops can do nothing about it. Yes it sucks but that is how the law works.

Good idea, tell the OP to commit a crime. If it pertains to kids then call the police when he is there and have them deal with him. When he gets to jail he will get plenty of "friends" who will want to spend quality time with him.

it really depends on what the guy did..for instance..there is a young man I know who is registered because he was 18 and his girlfriend was 17 and her parents found out they were having sex..so they got him for statutory rape ..it was a bad deal for him. If the guy is a rapist or a child molester..then call Child protective services on your wife. They can give you temporary sole custody while they figure out what this guy is and when she sees him etc. Don't be stupid and "kick his teeth in" because that will only land YOU in jail. Do it right, do it smart. It is your child that matters here, not your feelings. Good luck my friend!

He was sending pics and exchanging hers with a 14 or 15 year old girl. He was in his 20s. He also admitted to knowing her age prior. What a creep.
The file even says he had nude pics online at a website he also had the young girl visit it. All while he was married. His dad is in jail for molesting kids at school.
That family is winning

Not quite that simple.
Op, first you need to find out the exact charge he was charged with. From there you need to find out if he is forbidden from being around kids that are not is. IF he is then he is violating his terms and can be sent to prison.
Sorry greenidlady, but CPS will not remove the child simply because someone is a registered sex offender. They have to look at the big picture.

they would in my county..I know the J&DR judge and she would not tolerate that..she would probably grant an emergency temporary custody order and have a guardian ad litum come in to asses the situation..either way the child would be out of harms way until all was figured out...now my question for you..why are you so negative? And what makes you an expert to shoot down everyone else? You seem to be of the attitude that this guy has no recourse and just has to bite the bullet.

I spent three years working with child custody through the juvenile courts here. I would say I know a little more than most people do. If the man was not charged with a crime against a child and does not have an order stating he can not be around children then there is nothing the OP can do but go to court and ask the judge not to allow the child around the person.
The judge may or may not tell the ex that when the child is there he can not be. At this point the judge can not do anything unless the OP asks for it.

She would have no choice but to tolerate it if the OP never goes to court and asks for an order for the guy not be around the child. Judges can't just take on a case where nothing has been filed for one.
If the OP wants my advice I would say do what I put in the last comment.
