The Lone Ranger was great on the radio because it evoked quite a few scenes in my mind. Later, on TV, it seemed very two-dimensional.

"...return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear when from out of the past come the thundering hoof beats of of the great horse Silver;

THE LONE RANGER RIDES AGAIN!

Mom and Dad used to listen to Inner Sanctum when I was a child (2nd or 3rd grade) after I had gone to bed - I was still awake and would hear that creaking door! So scary!

.....Hi gal. Jump right in here. We are just reminicing about the ole days. We had an ole wooden Philco tube type radio that we listened to. Every saturday night it was the grand ole opry. During the week it was a variety of shows. Didn't have a tv. The good ole days. What bugs me about it all is this. In the 70's, my dad gave me that radio. I took it home and sanded it down and put a new finish on it. It looked like a new radio. My ex and i were having problems at the time. I came in from work one evening to find it in pieces. It was a spite thing i guess. It made me sick to my stomach. Oh well, that's life i reckon.

I liked to listen to short-wave radio stations in other languages - especially on Sundays. Could not tell what they were saying but when you found a religious program you could tell because the preachers all sounded alike in the cadences of their voices. Always thought that was funny!

My son and grandson tickle me. If the cable goes out for 1 hour, they cry like there is no tomorrow. Told them years ago all we had was radio. Only the well to do had tv's in the 50's. Remember when i was about 14, our neighbors had tv. They lived about a quarter of a mile from us. Me and my brother would go to their house on friday nights and watch boxing. i think it was called gillette calvacade of sports. back then they put milk in a half gallon paper carton that had wax on the outside. when boxing was over about 10:00, we would get one of their old empty cartons and light it to see how to get home. still believe that those were the good ole days. alex.

Ronald Reagan did host the Death Valley Days TV series and I seem to remember it being a radio show, but not sure about that. I think The Guiding Light was a radio soap opera before it became a long-running soap on CBS. I'm sure there were several others but can't recall the names at the moment.
