AWASHONKS
Benjamin Church, a 35 year old Rhode Islander, called on Awashonks female-sachem (chief) [of the Sogkonate]. Some believe that a romantic, or sexual, attachment between Church and Awashonks existed.Regardless of the relationship, Church was one exceptional frontiersman who respected the Native Americans. The friendship between Church and Awashonks was truly a rare occurrance between whites and Indians of that time.

Little Bighorn, A Place of Reflection
This area memorializes the U.S. Army's 7th Cavalry and the Sioux and Cheyenne in one of the Indians last armed efforts to preserve their way of life. Here on June 25 and 26 of 1876, 263 soldiers, including Lt. Col. George A. Custer and attached personnel of the U.S. Army, died fighting several thousand Lakota, and Cheyenne warriors.

Milk Creek Battle
...
Historians claim that this battle was a part of the so called 1879 Ute War which is also known as the 1879 White River War but it was just an extention of the Northern Cheyenne Exodus. After a force of Anishinabe soldiers forced their way into northwestern Kansas the previous year and killed 40 or more white settlers, they continued going towards the west into northwestern Colorado. Anyway, the Anishinabek who forced their way into eastern Colorado eventually reached the Rocky Mountains. Their white enemies were still after them and tried to negotiate with them. It culminated on September 30, 1879 in the Battle of Milk Creek. The battle was won by the Anishinabe soldiers. White casualties were 14 killed and over 40 wounded. Anishinabe casualties were fewer.

Nez Perce
Bin ~~ Yes, the Kiowa's, of the southwest, along with the Apache and Comanche, were plunders, and very war-like.
As for your question ~~ it appears a little too broad to try to discern what it is you are wishing to know without having to pull teeth to achieve clarity.
Do you mean the tribes which were 'relocated' from their ancestral homes, along the Trail of Tears, and made permanent & prosperous homes in the reservation state of Oklahoma? That would be the nations of the Five Civilized Tribes: Cherokee (though several hundred never left their ancestral home of NC/TN/AL and remain there today), Creek, Chickasaw, Choctaw & the Seminole.
Or do you mean the tribes of the Four Corner region who were herded onto the western reservations?
[Speaking of 'bad-assed' Indians --- history would indicate that one may not want to piss off a Red Stick Creek -- coming or going.]
Have a great day, everyone.

* Just a mention ~~~~ Licious that is a great Native American family photograph you posted. Thank you.
The older, young man (standing behind the father) looks, amazingly, like the picture I have hanging in my home of my great-uncle; whom I was named in honor of. Uncanny.

Quechan Tribe Fort Yuma Indian Reservation, California
...
The Yuma, who today prefer to be called the Quechan, have long been known as fighters. For centuries they battled the Papago, Apache, and other tribes for control of the fertile flood plains of the Colorado River (created by Kumastamxo by tracing a course through the desert with the tip of his lance) which is the boundary between California and Arizona.
