I just got the call from my Navy son...he comes home on Saturday or Friday! I am so excited and so full of pride. He graduates from Medical Corpman's training on Friday the 1st and then will fly home for 2 weeks. He has been gone for 6 months and I missed him terribly. What can I say...I am a Mother!...but a Proud Military Mother....I hold my head high, as my son made such an honorable decision in his life.

He will then be sent to Camp Lejeune Marine base in North Carolina, where he will have 65 days of combat Corpman training. After he completes the training there, he will then be sent to a Marine base in Quantico, Virginia. He will work in a Hospital Clinic until he receieves his next deployment orders. We all know, he most likely will be sent to Irag with the Marines.

There is a chance he will tranfer to be an official Marine Corpman. He told me he was thinking about it and wished he would have joined the Marine's to begin with, as a Corpman. I am not sure if that will ever take place, but I will be talking to him while on leave about that decision.

"Z"...My Son, My Hero!

Zeanah, Not being a mother I can't know how you are feeling, but I'm very very happy for you. Your pride in your son made me remember how proud my mom seemed to be when I went home on leave during the Korean War. Give your son my heartfelt thanks for his service to his country! As it always is, the old men start the wars and the young men and (in recent years women) must fight them. Thank God for those who do serve!

God bless you and your son.

Great News!

Happy for you Zeneah! I'm sure he'll have lots to say about his training, and as another has said, he'll be lookin for some love, to be sure!

I have s special affinity for Corpsmen, as I would not be here if it were not for a really knowledgeable E-5 Corpsman who stopped bleeding from my femoral artery after a mine took me out in '66 in Nam.

They are a very special group of men, and the Marines wouldn't be what they are without the Corpsmen who put their own lives on the line to save them.

If he is to go to a Marine unit, he may have to take some additional training, as the Navy Corpsmen of old had to go through Marine Boot Camp with us. Things may have changed since, but nevertheless, you should be proud that he has chosen to help save lives, rather than take them.

Nice Pic!
