It's fantastic. It's a tour of rock history. There's some real clever references to old punk in there and one song that sounds EXACTLY like a John Lennon song circa 1970

American Idiot and Breakdown. But those two, back to back, are modern rock classics.

You should check out the DVD "Awesome as F**k". It's the document of a tour date in Tokyo supporting the Breakdown record. And let me tell you, these guys are solid pros when performing.
It's not like the "we don't give two f**ks" Replacements. They aren't irreverent like that. It's a great rock show.
People gave The Clash shit for making a rock record instead of a punk rock record but the one that will last is "London Calling"
