The week of the Players Championship should have been about the golf and how awesome
the course looked. But Tiger had to put a damper on the event. It was reported that Tiger and Lindsey Vaughn split like the day before the event started.
apparently tiger got caught cheating on Lindsey!!!!! Guess tiger can't control the
tiger within! Then while making the cut, he played poorly in both the 3 and 4th rounds for his worse finish ever in that event!

I would like to blame this on Tiger's breakup with Lindsey but his golf game has been in shambles for a long time and as far as the tiger within him . . . Once a cheater, always a cheater.

like someone said a few weeks back. tiger took what was proly the best swing anyone had ever seen and killed it in search of a non existent perfect swing.
tiger just needs to go find a porn star to hang out with and all her friends.

Tater, Sports has only one billionaire who played the game and his name is Michael Jordan. Tiger could have been the next one if had learned how to keep his zipper up resulting in his ex-wife getting half his money. Tiger will probably still get to billionaire status but not nearly as quickly as he could have been one.

Tiger started golf at one year old. I saw him play when he was 16 at the LA Open and at least once every year he was a pro. He was very thin at age 16 and torqued his body like Hogan did and was able to launch his drives with a very fast swing. A large part of his need to change his swing I suspect was because he was trying to lessen the punishment to his body. When his knee blew out he changed his swing to lessen the impact on his knee. The result was more stress on his back, hence another change to lessen the stress on his back. After a while you run out of body parts to avoid. Weightlifting can also be hard on your back. Early in his career Tiger eagled most of the par 5's and blew the competition away. At this year's Players he was double bogeying the par 5's. Maybe it is time he change vocations for his physical well being?
Funny story since this is a dating site... A month or two before Tiger's affairs first became public, my X wife said to me that she would date Tiger if she could stating he is good looking . Two months later I let her know that Tiger was available since his wife left him. She gave me that look.... Last week I told her again that Tiger is now available....

Tater, Tiger is not too far away from billionaire status now with his net worth even after forfeiting many millions to his ex-wife. He will probably achieve that goal even if he never swings a golf club again because his name is on a lot of brands along with his other business interests and investments. BUT, this is just another example that money won't buy you happiness because he appears to be miserable within himself not to mention that he doesn't know how to behave himself to be in a happy relationship with a woman. There are many examples of this among rich people in all of life.

The Players course is a Pete Dye (as in Die)design. It was designed to torture the players and NOT be a fair test of golf. Good players can play well and look really bad there. Fans like to see the players put their ball in the lake at 17 and other holes and delight in their misery. You have to be tough mentally to survive the tournament, and Tiger has lost his edge in that department, particularly this past week. If your life is in shambles, it does effect your game.

back when i was physically able to play golf, i played many years in the chattanooga industrial league via the company golf team. i might add, it was the most fun i had on a golf course. anyway, what i'm getting at is about the course where we played. the brainerd golf club in chattanooga tn. an 18 hole course, the front was a pete dye design, if i'm remembering correct. dave, i can tell ya, i absolutely loved playing the front 9. now truth be told, i was not good on the front, it was so challenging. i scored way better on the back, but given a choice, i'd play the front every time.
tommy, ole tiger must have had a bundle because his x got what, 3/4 of a billion or so? now hes back in range again, sheesh, messing around pays good.

Maybe she would prefer a row boat to get her off her island once in awhile. Then again, maybe she doesn't want to leave her island at all.

Pete Dye courses do force you to be more accurate. I was a men's club member of the Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Course for a few years. It is a 27 hole Pete Dye course. Most holes have no rough and sometimes no fairway. I learned to drive with my irons and leave all longer clubs home. Most woods are too risky on that course.

dave, a tip of the hat to those that can hit long irons. i never could hit a long iron. i learned pretty quick that a 7 and 5 wood are much more easily hit, by me anyway. i loved my lil 7 wood. for guys like me that never hit the ball very far, those clubs were invaluable.

At my golfing prime I used to hit a one iron, that replaced my three wood. I would use the one iron on narrow fairways that benefited from the one irons straight flight. Both irons and woods have advantages and disadvantages. Wood "spray" more than irons. Irons are more accurate. My current bag includes a driver, 3 wood, 7 wood , a hybrid (3R), and the following irons, (1,4,5,6,7,8,9,PW,SW) (mostly Taylormade)and a ping putter (14 total). I use my one iron if I need a very low flight like after I slice my driver in the trees. I can hit a low penetrating slice shot with the 1 iron under the trees and 150 yard up the center of the fairway. Believe it or not the 1 iron may be comming back. Taylor made is now making one. My next club purchase will be a 5 wood. The key to hitting long irons for me is the same as the driver....be sure your backswing LOW and SLOW and a smoothe down swing. The tendency of most players is to try to kill the driver or one iron and then get their body out of position during the swing.

Tater:
Tiger's biggest problem with this week's news is a potential loss of sponsors. He lost many when he first had fidelity issues with his now X wife. I remember the bubble shaft and see them occasionally. Taylor Made has been dominating the driver the past few years. Driver and club sales generally are based on innovation and advertisement based on the touring pros that use them. I was a contractor to Callaway in the mid 90s and went to a company Christmas Party and got to hear Ely Callaway, the founder, give his Christmas speech to the troops. At that time he said Callaway was the number one in the industry and stated that the #1 player on all 4 major touring organizations (PGA, LPGA, etc) were sponsored by Callaway. Why do you think Nike paid so much to Tiger? If you were Nike, would you continue to sponsor him? If yes, at what price?

it very well could be. and truthfully, if he never wins another major i'd be ok with it. at this point i'm good with watching the budding competition with the youngsters. mcilroy, spieth, fowler, reed and others. we may be seeing the strongest 'group' of players we've seen in a while.
as for tiger, he had a good career. i really enjoyed watching him do the once thought impossible. maybe that will be his greatest legacy. he showed every golfer and golf lover, theres no such thing as, impossible.

Not only did Tiger finish last, but he shot a career high score of 85. To add insult to injury, Tiger did this at Jack's Tournament, the Memorial, where he scored the Tournament record low score. I do however respect Tiger for finishin the record high round. Most players who are about to have a record high round, will fake an injury and walk off mid- round not to post the high score.

What Tiger and Phil confirmed to me is that the younger you start, the better the chances for golfing greatness. Phil and Tiger started at age 1. The downside is that playing at an early age at a high level is punishing to the body, and eventually you will pay the piper. Tiger not only started at age 1, but he had a strong mentor, his dad, who also started promoting him on TV at a very young age.
I would never count Tiger out. If he lets his mind and body heal, and puts his mind to his profession, he will win and win big again. He is very competitive, more than any other player I have seen. Did you ever think he will want to break all the senior golf records, particularly if he can't break all of Jack's records? Who is the oldest player to win a major on the regular tour? I bet Tiger knows......

You might be right. Time will tell. Didn't you mean to say son and daughter? I don't think Tiger has a mentor personality. Has he helped Cheyenne Woods (his niece, now finally on the LPGA)? I know they speak occasionally, but not much else about their relationship with golf to each other.

What is interesting is that David Duval has been spending time in the announcer's booth at the US Open, I think on the golf channel (or Fox?). He said today that he too had vertigo like Jason Day, and described the inner ear biology/chemistry of vertigo today. I was playing a course in the Palm Springs area and came to a plaque on the middle of the fairway saying that this was the spot David Duval shot a 5 wood to the green to achieve the 59 that he shot. I am glad he is back from his fall from the tour.
Tiger is tenacious and not a quitter. I saw him playing with a broken leg at Torrey Pines in the 2008 US Open.
Saturday is moving day at the US Open. Who will rise up the leaderboard, and who will fall out of contention?

Respect his game, but not his arrogance over the years. Which takes away from that he was once one of the greatest golfers in his prime. However, shooting a +16 in his previous tournament just shows how his career has become nothing more than caricature of what his career used to be. From that, it's just deplorable......gamer

First of all - in reference to Tiger - there is nothing wrong with Tiger's game - it is Tiger's Mind that is playing games with him. The only way Tiger will get back in the groove is if he is hungry enough..he has to want it bad enough - Tiger has always had the strokes - he just does not have the confidence anymore. Instead of going hourly to the golf course he needs to spend a couple of hours a day with a head doctor or a good friend that can just talk him through this.
Second - about jason Day and Vertigo....I know that he made the statement that he had been to doctors and they could not find anything....the first thing any doctor would look at if someone is having vertigo is the inner ear issues - and rule that out .... when they were talking about rocks/stones it is a procedure of maneuvers that will relocate these stones so that the vertigo becomes controlled. there is also a surgery that is done behind the ear (a nerve) that causes Meniere's disease. which is also inner ear. Now - if it has nothing to do with the ear then there are other concerns....
I have lived with severe vertigo since 2008 as a result of a head injury - it is absolutely debilitating. The vertigo, the nausea, the headaches, the vision the balance issues, even the inability of recall and thought processes. It is the same thing that football players are encountered with after concussions - In my lifetime of tomboy acting - I have had 3 severe head injuries - when you have enough concussions then you can be subjected to these possible repercussions. I was told mine would be permanent and nothing could be done to improve it - OMG no way was I living this way the rest of my life - it took me 6 years of determination to work through a lot of the issues and I will never be rid of some of the problems 100% but I am one hard headed woman and found ways of improving the vertigo...but I still have to be careful.... the other day I got a wild hair and decided I was going to iron every pair of shorts I owned for the golf course (now I am a woman and I love clothes - especially golf shorts and skirts) So I ironed about 20 pairs, and about 3 hours later I paid the price - I did not relate the fact of the motion of moving the head from side to side constantly while ironing - Oh wow - I lived 3 days with thinking I was 6" tall and the floor was right in my face....I can make small jokes about this issue but it is not funny at all when going through it. One good thing - I now have an excuse NOT to iron all day - One piece at a time is my limit now.
When I was watching Jason Day my heart went out to him - I just wanted to tell him - keep your head straight - keep your eyes straight ahead and don't move them side to side - walk slowly and stare at an object straight ahead of you. don't bend over quickly - be precise about movements, don't turn the head (turn the body instead). don't lean your head back...so many things to try to control the spinning and balance issues.
So now you have your lesson in vertigo symptoms. I hope he can find out what his problem is and I really hope it is the issue with inner ear because if it isn't - then he may just have to make some very rough decisions for his life. Symptoms can be caused by so many issues. Mine was caused by Post Concussion Syndrome and I wish it had been inner ear because that is actually controllable.

Tiger sucks and it's a shame that people are still stuck on him.
Tiger, like him or not, was well on his way to break almost every record on the PGA. One of his top goals was to beat Jack Nicklaus' 18 Major event wins, and he was at 14 after the US Open in 2008. If he has a comeback, he can break more records that he hasn't broken already.
For example, one of his records is he beat the field by 15 strokes at the US Open in 2000 at Pebble Beach.
See: http://golf.about.com/od/majorchampionships/f/usopenmargin.htm
To a baseball player, that is like having a shutout pitching in four straight games of the World Series, or having a 600 batting average for a Major League team.

These are the numbers along with streaky putting that has rendered him as " just another golfer ".
65%-greens in regulation
57%-scrambling
50% sand saves
I also believe that he doesn't have any confidence in his driver anymore.

He used to be amazing because he had the mental game on top of physical talent.
His head has not been in the right place for a long time.

I absolutely agree with this. His lack of consistent performance is likely due to both mental and Physical reasons.
Speaking of mental issues he is dealing with, he is not over his recent breakup with his girlfriend (or being dumped by his girlfriend). See an article on yahoo today that says who he was accused of cheating with......

I wish Lindsey the best! She seems like a great catch for someone. Tiger may have lost his window of opportunity. There are so many great young players today. Someone pushing 40 is not as competitive as they may have been 20 years ago. When Tiger and Phil started to golf at age one, that was unusually young and a great advantage to start playing that young. Today, my daughter is in JR golf at age 11 and at that age group (11-12) the top girls in San Diego are shooting between 70 and 80 in a 2 day tournament at a Championship Course! Young boys and girls are in tournaments at age 5 in San Diego!

Tiger is warming up today by Playing Saint Andrews, not in the Scottish Open, the with some lucky Nike Training Camp Juniors. Tiger is now World ranked #226. See more info on:
http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/woods-plays-practice-round-st-andrews/
Time will tell is he is all washed up. He will be playing the best in the world next week at the British Open to test his mental and physical skills. Having won 2 Open Championships at Saint Andrews is a great mental edge for any player. I personally like Saint Andrews because there are no tree for me to hit or drive behind!!! Tiger has a tendency to spray his woods at times, so this is where some of his edge comes from on this course. I suspect he will drive with his 2 iron a lot next week.

It looks like both players are in danger of missing the cut.
Both players have very good and interesting interviews prior to the tournament start. Tom Watson said that he has several houses full of friends and relatives at St Andrews and they planned a big party on Friday night (predicting he may not make the cut). My question is if both players miss the cut, will Tiger be invited to the party?
Dustin Johnson is leading the tournament at -7 with lots of folks finishing at -6 and -5. Depending on the weather, Watson and Woods will probably have to play well under par tomorrow to make the cut. Jason Day finished at -6 and Spieth finished at -5. All the scores are not in yet for Day 1 of the tournament.
Will Distin Johnson's putting hold up? I will never forget Dustin three putting from 12 feet at the 2015 US Open to loose the tournament, with a 1 putt to win. Putting is half the game, and with the wind and huge greens, your putter will make you or break you at St Andrews this week. Right now the winds are up. Have you ever tried to putt while your ball is shaking and just as you take your stroke the ball moves? did ESPN hear that one?

I do think that the game of golf has now never seen so many young and talanted players.
Any of which could win several majors.

I definitely agree. It seems to me this is partially due to starting the players at a younger age and the rise in the prize money, television coverage and endorsement contracts.
Young golfers are starting in tournaments at 5 years old. Most winnings on the PGA are over a Million dollars. The endorsements dwarf the prize money for the top players.

Tater:
Golf may have peaked two years ago. A lot of courses have closed in California, and nationally. In the golf mags I read, the last two years the number of folks golfing in the US has gone down 5% each year. What most don't know now, when I was 16 and played high school golf, golf was not a cool sport. Professional Bowlers made more money than Professional Golfers. TV coverage was the best thing that happened to golf in the 1960's. It created golf heroes like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The IMG founder, Mark McCormack, signed up Arnold, and he was the pioneer in creating huge endorsement contracts. Shell's' Wonderful World of Golf program helped to, showing the top players playing courses all over the World. I love the sport because it is so challenging, and the courses are so beautiful. I have taught the sport to my three daughters and my father played golf.
