The Senior US Open for Men is held in Sacramento, CA is this week.

Tom Watson is tied for first place with a first day 68 and is 4 under par. Tom is 65 years old. Does anyone remember the 2009 British Open where he tied for the lead at age 59 and lost in a playoff??? I think most folks who don't know Tom Watson will think he is too old to win the Senior US Open. Allen Doyle is the oldest U.S. Senior Open Champion at age 58. What do you think?

I met Tom Watson at the Players Championship a few years back. He was gracious enough to spend a couple minutes talking with me. Wonderful man.

Heck of a leaderboard. Serious movement all over. Guys shooting-5 at their age makes me jealous.

lol, bubba is an odd character. if*golf course doesnt set up decent for his eye, he simply pooters around for the first 2 rounds and goes home. you can listen to his pre tourney talk and tell whether or not hes mentally in it that week. but when hes dialed in, oh my.

uh, sorry dave, didnt mean to hijack your thread.

Tater:

No Problem....It doesn't look like many here are into the Senior Tour.

I am a Buba fan too!!!

I think this is one of the many Senior US Opens that Tom Watson was not able to close. It might have been his last chance at 65....But I won't sell him short...he is full of surprises and accomplishments.

Congrats to Jeff Maggert who shot a -5 in a major on Sunday to close the Senior US Open!!

ummmmm nope Tommy - in fact Bubba was the person chosen this year that other golfers would most likely not help if he was in a parking lot fight.....He can be very mouthy and doesn't care who hears what he has to say or who he addresses it to....Bubba is such a hyper person - I can tell when he has forgotten to take his meds.

10s, I respect your opinion my dear friend. I know all about Bubba's mouth and the dislike that other golfers have for him but Conners was a maniac when he got mad on the tennis court until McInroe came along, who was even more of a maniac.

Gosh 10s, it must be true that good guys come in last. Since you are one of the few females who posts here, and one of the best posters I might add, and a dear friend to many of us here . . . am I sugar coating this enough yet,? . . . please educate all of us males as to why girls like bad boys so much! Note to self . . . be careful about what you ask for!

Please tell me it ain't so Phil Mickelson because I have always liked you! Please tell me that you are not going to be the Pete Rose of golf!

Reports are surfacing all over the internet tonight that Phil is being attached to a 3 million dollar illegal sports gambling scheme which includes possibly betting on golf tournaments that he is participating in. This is a breaking story right now with no concrete details yet.

tommy, not exactly directly, as i understand it. phil either gave or loaned 2.7 mil to a guy that has admitted to knowingly giving the money to an illegal gambling set up. everything i've seen so far says phil is most likely safe from prosecution. what i do find odd is, why do they keep showing how much money phil made the last few years, or ever how long. i dont get that. i know theres a whole hatred for money makers nowadays, but sheesh, get over it already.

theres my 2 cents worth

Tater, I read exactly what you stated earlier too but later reports have said that Phil might be more than just a lender of money in all of this. Like I said earlier, this is all still breaking news with nothing concrete so far. I hope Phil comes out clean in all of this.

well according to the reports - Phil could not be charged federally for anything - being a customer is not against the Federal Law....only the person doing the money laundering (the Operator) is held accountable Federally. So guess we'll just have to wait and see where this goes. He is known to gamble on super bowls and other sporting events - In 2001, he was reprimanded by the PGA Tour after winning $500 from Mike Weir in the players' lounge at the NEC Invitational: Mickelson had wagered $20 at 25-1 odds that Jim Furyk would hole a bunker shot.

Based on the latest reports I have read it appears that Phil has a good chance to come out clean on this investigation UNLESS they can connect him to money laundering.
