The question is moot in my case because I don't believe in evil spirits or haunted houses. I'd have no problem living in a house believed by others to be haunted though.

According to the mystics of the East, we all live in haunted houses. Our houses have 9 doors; eyes, ears, nose, mouth and two below, and we don't know how to leave it. It is haunted by lust, anger greed, ego, and attachment. They drag us around and make us do all kinds of crazy things and waste our lives until we realize that it is our attention that keeps them alive and gives them power over us.
Having realized that, we are then free to escape through the tenth door, the hidden door, at the back and between the two eyes. Attention placed there leads to escape and freedom.
We are also haunted by the Karma of our past deeds and proclivities of the mind, and that shapes our lives and our destiny.

So basically it's a guilty conscious that haunts us. The psychopath, of course, has no problem with this. The misery religious fanatics have inflicted upon others doesn't make them feel guilty but instead very good and holy.

This is true, in my estimation, as I envisioned a life free from strife, full of love and serenity, and it's what I live now, and gave up nothing.
