Franciscan friars charged with allowing abuse of at least 80 kids
By Julie Zauzmer March 15 at 1:20 PM
Pennsylvania religious leaders charged with allowing sex abuse
Three members of a Franciscan religious order are criminally charged with conspiracy for allegedly letting a friar who was a known predator hold jobs in which he sexually abused more than 80 children. (Reuters)
In a first-of-its-kind case, prosecutors in Pennsylvania announced charges on Tuesday against three Franciscan friars who they say facilitated the abuse of dozens of children.
Prosecutors say that all three men knew about sexual abuse allegations against Brother Stephen Baker dating back to the 1980s but that the three friars continued to place Baker in jobs that gave him access to children, up until 2010.
Confronted with a lawsuit that made the accusations public, Baker killed himself in 2013, at age 62, in the monastery where he lived. On Monday, state prosecutors announced that three men who supervised him — Brothers Anthony M. Criscitelli, 61, Robert J. D’Aversa, 69, and Giles A. Schinelli, 73 — are each charged with one count of endangering the welfare of children and one count of criminal conspiracy.
[‘Payout chart’ for molestation: Secret archive in Pa. held chilling details of clergy abuse]
“These men knew there was a child predator in their organization. Yet they continued to put him in positions where he had countless opportunities to prey upon children,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane said in a statement. “Their silence resulted in immeasurable pain and suffering for so many victims. These men turned a blind eye to the innocent children they were trusted to protect.”
Kane’s office also conducted an investigation into the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese in Pennsylvania which produced a damning grand jury report earlier this month. That report chronicled alleged abuses committed by 35 priests, dating to the 1950s, in wrenching detail. But it did not recommend charges against anyone. Most of the priests named in the report have died, and the statute of limitations has expired in some cases.
But when the grand jury turned its attention to friars based in Hollidaysburg, Pa. — the Franciscan Friars, Third Order Regulars, Province of the Immaculate Conception — it found cause to charge three men who served in the same job in the organization, that of minister provincial. The minister provincial controls which friar works where, prosecutors said. So Criscitelli, D’Aversa and Schinelli were the ones who placed Baker in the jobs which he allegedly used as opportunities to molest children, for years.

Don't go by the bad priests. Go by the good priests. Keep your kids out of public school---the proportion of pedophiles among public schoolteachers is much greater, and you can't sue them.
Unrepentant bad priests will go to Hell and suffer a much harsher punishment there than laypeople there.

I figure if you reject Jesus you have a problem
Accepting Jesus and growing up in Jesus The Christ takes a lifetime---
You can NOT change until you see a reason to change----
You must understand what repentance means---
It means to turn around from something---
Problem is Most feel there don't need to turn around from anything---
by refusing to see than they refuse G_d in the end----
Didn't Jesus say something like---
Please Turn back --turn around and he Jesus would heal them---
but they liked their e -GOLD go -Power and making Outcasts more than they loved Jesus
What their Peers (In crowd--bully leader said was more important )
than Jesus---
Now they belonged to an organization and it would save them -----Huh???
I will stay with and worship Jesus NOT men
I say this cause I made the mistake of thinking I needed a priesthood and organization to please G-d
I do NOT ---need a priesthood and organizat--- (manmade)ion
I need a relationship with Jesus
My (our) High Priest--ONLY mediator between us and G_D
And u better believe he spanks-disciplines everyone he loves---
You ain't fooling Jesus---
He knows me(us) so well

IN JESUS' NAME, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Sexual scandal of Marcial Maciel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fr. Marcial Maciel LC (late 2004)
The sexual scandal of Marcial Maciel involved accusations that the Roman Catholic priest sexually abused minors and fathered a total of six children by three different women.[1] Marciel was a Mexican priest and the leader of the Legion of Christ for many decades. Described as a charismatic leader and the "greatest fundraiser of the modern Roman Catholic church," he was successful in recruiting seminarians at a time of declining vocations.[1] He was the "highest ranking priest ever disciplined because of sexual abuse allegations."[2]
The scandal was linked with the wider series of international Catholic sex abuse cases reported in the Catholic church. Church authorities were criticized for a slow pace of investigations, with conjecture that it was because Maciel was close to Pope John Paul II and had well-placed connections amongst senior clergy.[2] In 2006 he was forced to retire from active ministry.[1]
In March 2010, the Legion of Christ in a communique[3] acknowledged that "reprehensible actions" by Maciel, including sexual abuse, did take place. The communique stated that "given the gravity of his faults, we cannot take his person as a model of Christian or priestly life." The Legion had long denied allegations, and since 2006 had not made any official statement one way or the other.[1]
1956 investigation
Father Marcial Maciel, a Mexican priest who was the leader of the Legion of Christ, was investigated several times for his behavior. In 1956 the Vatican had him removed as superior and investigated allegations of drug (morphine) abuse. After interviewing members of the then-small congregation, the Vatican cleared him, and he was reinstated in February 1959.[4] There are no records of any members reporting sexual abuse at that time. However, since then two seminarians reported that they lied to investigators; they did not report being abused because Father Maciel had them take a vow never to speak ill of him.[5]
Accusations since the 1970s
Since the 1970s, Marcial Maciel has been accused twice of having repeatedly sexually abused other congregation members, including young children. Maciel's accusers include a priest, a guidance counselor, a professor, an engineer, a lawyer, and a former priest who became a university professor.[6] These seven Mexicans and two Spaniards described themselves as former members of a favored group, known as the "apostolic schoolboys." The abuse allegedly occurred over three decades beginning in the 1940s in Spain and Italy, where boys and young men were taken for schooling.[7] The abuse, they said, involved some 30 boys and young men and extended over at least three decades.
Nine different accusers
In 1998, formal charges were lodged at the Vatican[2] by the nine men who had made the accusations. (One subsequently retracted his story, claiming it had been a fabrication intended to damage the Legion; the other eight continue to maintain these allegations.) The accusations described how Maciel would feign having an illness in his groin and falsely claim to had been given papal permission to receive help massaging away the pain. Fr. Maciel and the Legion originally denied the accusations. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), led by then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (who later became Pope Benedict XVI), examined the allegations. The CDF told the victims the following year that Maciel would not be prosecuted because of his age.[2]
Reopening the case
In 2004, the victims were informed by letter that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith had decided to reopen the investigation against Maciel. Shortly after, Maciel stepped down as General Director of the Legion at the Ordinary General Chapter held in January 2005.[6] Fr Alvaro Corcuera was elected by the same General Chapter as the new General Director. The CDF did not prosecute Fr Maciel because of his age.
Retirement
On 19 May 2006, the Vatican published a communique for the press, instructing Maciel to retire from active ministry to a life of "prayer and penitence".[8] He moved to a house for priests in Jacksonville, Florida, United States, where he died in 2008. Maciel and the Legion continued to deny all accusations until his death in 2008.
On 3 September 2009, an apology on behalf of the Legion was made by Fr. Julio Marti and Fr. Scott Reilly (the territorial directors of the Legion in the US and Canada). They said, "We are deeply saddened and sorry, and we sincerely ask for forgiveness from God and from those who have been hurt through this. We also regret that our inability to detect, and thus accept and remedy, Father Maciel’s failings has caused even more suffering."[9] In 2014 a more formal and extensive apology was made by the General Chapter of the Legionaries of Christ.
Further revelations
On 3 February 2009 the New York Times reported:
"The Legionaries of Christ, an influential Roman Catholic religious order, have been shaken by new revelations that their founder, who died a year ago, had an affair with a woman and fathered a daughter just as he and his thriving conservative order were winning the acclaim of Pope John Paul II."[10]
This has been confirmed by the Legion of Christ. The BBC reported that Maciel had a total of six natural children by three different women, two of whom lived in Mexico and one in Switzerland.[11]
Alvaro Corcuera and Thomas Williams have also stated that, given the revelations about the immoral life led by the founder, it is probable that past accusations of sexual abuse by him were true.[12]
The Rev. Thomas V. Berg LC, Executive Director of the Westchester Institute for Ethics and the Human Person, formally apologized to the victims of Fr. Maciel, "In shock, sorrow, and with a humbled spirit, I want to express my deepest sorrow for anyone who, in any way, has been hurt by the moral failings of Fr. Maciel."[13] A few weeks after the scandal broke, Fr. Berg left the Legion of Christ to become a diocesan priest, transferring the Westchester Institute to the Archdiocese of New York.[14]
Civil suit on behalf of six children[edit]
In July 2009, an attorney, José Bonilla, was appointed to represent three of a possible total of six of Maciel's natural children in a civil suit to recover Maciel's estate. The lawyer claimed that Maciel owned several properties in Mexico and around the world in his own name.[15][16]
Media in Spain had reported an interview with a woman who had a child with Maciel over 20 years ago and lived in a luxury apartment in Madrid which Maciel purchased for her. The woman, Norma Hilda Baños, said that she was abused by Maciel as a minor and later became pregnant by him. She bore him a daughter, named Norma Hilda Rivas.[17]

Follow the good priests, not the bad ones.
Any church founded by Jesus would not have "bad priests," nor would anyone have to be on high alert watching out for them and trying to decide which were good and to follow and which were bad and to avoid.
Oh, I know. You said: "How to spot [the bad priests]? They walk around with phony grins all the time, they act effiminate, and they preach liberal doctrines, especially this latter."

The church in general is the body of Christ not the separate (flocks themselves are only a part of the body) Jesus said and there shall be on flock at the end. The body of Christ AkA the church is set up by God and under the authority of Christ. Yet there are many scriptures that tell deacons and pastors to be watchmen. To Guard their doctrine so that it is not diluted or perverted by the craftiness of men. The scripture also states that and this a few bible verses...
2 peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
1 corinthians 2 15
1But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,…
Galatians 2 4
…3But not even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. 4But it was because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage. 5But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.…
Jesus said this concerning the faith
John 15
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
John 8
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
abiding in the Son is abiding in the bible and it's doctrines. Was written to believers during Apostle Paul's ministry.
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

And this has likely been going on for 2000 years. OMG
Catholic Church sex abuse scandals around the world
14 September 2010
From the section Europe
Ettal Monastery, southern Germany
Image caption
A series of scandals involving child sex abuse by priests has rocked the Catholic Church around the world.
The Catholic Church has faced a raft of allegations of child sex abuse by priests and an inadequate response by bishops. Here is a round-up of some of those events:
BELGIUM
The bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned in April 2010 after admitting that he had sexually abused a boy for years when he was a priest and after being made a bishop.
The scandal drew in the former head of the Catholic Church in Belgium, Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who had advised the victim in April not to go public with his story until Vangheluwe had retired in 2011.
After the Vangheluwe case came to light, a commission set up to investigate the extent of abuse in the Belgian Church received a flood of calls.
Police controversially raided the commission and Church offices, suspecting some evidence was being covered up - but this move was ruled illegal by a Belgian court.
In September 2010 the head of the commission released harrowing details of some 300 cases of alleged sexual abuse by Belgian clergy.
The abuse was found in nearly every diocese, and 13 alleged victims had committed suicide, he said.
However, he found no indication that the Church had systematically sought to cover up cases.
The Church pledged to set up a victims' support centre in a first attempt to rebuild public trust, and to co-operate more with the police.
IRELAND
Two major reports into allegations of paedophilia among Irish clergy last year revealed the shocking extent of abuse, cover-ups and hierarchical failings involving thousands of victims, and stretching back decades.
In one, four Dublin archbishops were found to have effectively turned a blind eye to cases of abuse from 1975 to 2004.
The Dublin archdiocese, it said, operated in a culture of concealment, placing the integrity of its institutions above the welfare of the children in its care.
In the wake of the report, all Irish bishops were summoned to the Vatican to give an account of themselves in person before the Pope.
Four bishops, named in the report, handed in their resignations. The Pope accepted two but told the other two he wanted them to continue.
Six months earlier, another report - the result of a nine-year investigation - documented some six decades of physical, sexual and emotional abuse at residential institutions run by 18 religious orders.
With the Church still reeling from the reports' findings, a fresh scandal erupted in March 2010 when it emerged the head of the Irish Catholic Church, Cardinal Sean Brady, was present at meetings in 1975 where children signed vows of silence over complaints against a paedophile priest, Fr Brendan Smyth.
Cardinal Brady resisted calls to resign but issued an apology for mishandling the matter.
A few days later, on 20 March, Pope Benedict XVI apologised to victims of child sex abuse by Catholic priests in Ireland.
He then accepted the resignation of Bishop John Magee, an aide to three popes before being assigned to Ireland, who was found to have mishandled allegations of clerical sex abuse in his County Cork diocese.
Pope Benedict has now appointed a panel of nine prelates to investigate child abuse in Ireland's Catholic institutions.
UNITED STATES
Over the past two decades, the Roman Catholic Church in the US - with the archdiocese of Boston in particular - has been embroiled in a series of child sex scandals.
There was public outrage after abuses in the 1990s by two Boston priests, Paul Shanley and John Geoghan, came to light, with suspicions that Church leaders had sought to cover up their crimes by moving them from post to post.
In 2002 the then-Pope John Paul II called an emergency meeting with US cardinals, but allegations continued to emerge.
Despite an apology and pledge to take a tougher line, Archbishop Bernard Law resigned over the scandal at the end of the year.
In September 2003, the Boston archdiocese - the fourth-largest in the US - agreed to pay $85m to settle more than 500 civil suits accusing priests of sexual abuse and church officials of concealment.
A report commissioned by the Church the following year said more than 4,000 US Roman Catholic priests had faced sexual abuse allegations in the last 50 years, in cases involving more than 10,000 children - mostly boys.
A series of huge payouts has been made by US diocese to alleged victims of abuse - the largest being some $660m from the Los Angeles Archdiocese in 2007.
During a tour of the US in 2008, the Pope met privately with victims of abuse by priests and spoke of "the pain and the harm inflicted by the sexual abuse of minors".
In March 2010 documents emerged suggesting that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, before he became Pope, failed to respond to letters from US clergy about cases of alleged child sex abuse by a priest in Wisconsin.

Part 2
Archbishops had complained about Fr Lawrence Murphy in 1996 to a Vatican office led by the future Pope, but apparently received no response.
Fr Murphy, who died in 1998, is suspected of having abused some 200 boys at St John's School for the Deaf in St Francis, Wisconsin, between 1950 and 1974.
One of his alleged victims told the BBC the Pope had known for years about the accusations yet failed to take action.
GERMANY
Since the start of 2010, at least 300 people have made allegations of sexual or physical abuse by priests across the Pope's home country.
Claims are being investigated in 18 of Germany's 27 Roman Catholic dioceses.
Accusations include the abuse of more than 170 children by priests at Jesuit schools, three Catholic schools in Bavaria, and within the Regensburg Domspatzen school boys' choir that was directed for 30 years by Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, the Pope's brother.
In June, prosecutors said they were investigating the head of Germany's Roman Catholic bishops. Archbishop Robert Zollitsch of Freiburg is suspected of allowing the re-appointment of a priest accused of child abuse in 1987. The archdiocese rejected the charge.
In March, Father Peter Hullermann, who was convicted of molesting boys during his time in the archdiocese of Munich and Freising, was suspended from his duties after breaching a ban on working with children.
Days earlier, the Pope's former diocese said Benedict had unwittingly approved housing for Fr Hullermann when serving as archbishop of Munich; the Vatican denounced what it called "aggressive" efforts to link the Pope to the scandal.
The Regensburg diocese confirmed on 22 March new allegations of child sexual abuse against four priests and two nuns, saying most of the incidents occurred in the 1970s.
Two days later the German government announced it was forming a committee of experts to investigate all the abuse claims.
ITALY
In June 2010 a high-profile former priest was charged with sexual abuse.
Pierino Gelmini, 85, is alleged to have abused 12 young people at a drug rehabilitation centre he founded.
Meanwhile, a number of deaf men have come forward to say they were abused as children at the Antonio Provolo Institute for the Deaf in the northern city of Verona between the 1950s and the 1980s.
The allegations were first reported in the Italian press in January 2009.
Later last year the Associated Press news agency obtained a written statement from 67 of the school's former pupils naming 24 priests, brothers and lay religious men who they accused of sexual abuse, paedophilia and corporal punishment.
The diocese of Verona said it intended to interview the victims following a request from the Vatican to do so.
NETHERLANDS
In March 2010, Dutch bishops ordered an independent inquiry into more than 200 allegations of sexual abuse of children by priests, in addition to three cases dating from 1950 to 1970.
Allegations first centred on Don Rua monastery school in the eastern Netherlands, with people saying they were abused by Catholic priests in the 1960s and 70s.
This prompted dozens more alleged victims from other institutions to come forward.
AUSTRIA
A series of claims of sexual abuse by priests has emerged in the Vorarlberg region.
Some 16 people have reported 27 alleged incidents there, spanning half a century.
Ten children are also alleged to have been abused at a monastery in Mehrerau in the 1970s and early 80s.
Meanwhile five priests at a monastery in Kremsmuenster in Upper Austria have been suspended after complaints of sexual and physical abuse of boys there.
Separately, the head of a Salzburg monastery, Bruno Becker, resigned after confessing to having abused a boy 40 years ago, when he was a monk.
SWITZERLAND
A commission set up by the Swiss Bishops Conference in 2002 has been investigating allegations of abuse involving the Catholic Church there.
A member of the commission, Abbot Martin Werlen, said in a newspaper interview this month that about 60 people have said they were abused by Catholic priests. The alleged incidents are reported to have occurred over the past 15 years.
A priest in the canton of Thurgau was arrested on 19 March on suspicion of sexual abuse of minors, police said.
MALTA
Three priests have been accused of sexually abusing 10 orphan children in Malta during the 1980s and 1990s.
Pope Benedict visited the island in April and held an emotional meeting with victims, pledging to bring those responsible to justice and to protect young people in the future.
SPAIN
Police have launched an investigation into three members of staff at a care home run by a Catholic order.
There have also been formal accusations against a Carmelite monk in eastern Spain and Franciscan brothers in the south.

No church founded by God could have bad priests.
No church founded by God could have homosexuals and pedophiles in its clergy, sexually abusing children and breaking their vows of chastity. For 2000 years. Not to mention all the priest-nun sexuality and the aborted babies therefrom, and all the other sexual abominations that are known to have gone on behind the closed doors of the convents and other secret places.
Catholic doctrines are the doctrines of mere men.
Saying that "Catholic doctrines are objectively true," is nothing more than a self-serving assertion, unprovable and unbiblical, and is in fact in itself just another self-serving doctrine of mere men.
Mat 15:8-9 These [Catholics] draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. ...in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Pure nonsense.
Doctors, dentists and taxi drivers do not profess to be spiritually enlightened. Indeed, infallible, and possessing the power/knowledge to discern the sincerity of the heart of a professed repentant sinner with the authority to grant God's forgiveness as do Catholic priests who in so many cases are sinners themselves.

Yo are lying. Jesus did not found the Catholic church and Peter was not the first pope and your other comments have nothing to do with what I said. Catholic priests cannot discern the heart of a professed sinner and they cannot forgive sin. Only God knows the heart of a repentant sinner and only God can forgive. You go to confession on a regular basis and I assume the priests forgives you yet you still sin. You make a mockery of the confession on a regular basis and you are a fool if you think God forgives you.

**Catholic Pedophile Priests:
The Effect on US Society
The many flaws and omissions in official reports
cannot hide that this is a crisis of historical proportions.
The National Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People established by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has not had an easy time of determining the extent of the sexual abuse of minors within the American Roman Catholic Church. Not surprisingly, there has been considerable internal opposition. This resistance was so bad that long before its work was finished, its chairman, Frank Keating, was forced to resign after he compared the Church's actions to the Cosa Nostra, which rather proved his point.
Unfortunately, however, these initial numbers are likely to be the only official accounting ever done by the Roman Catholic Church. As soon as the report was published, the UCCB acted swiftly to cut the National Review Board's feet out from under it. For this was to be the preliminary report; the audits were to be completed and a larger report issued. Furthermore, the Board had planned further follow-up reports to follow the implementation of their proposals.
That will not happen now. And so the Church has squandered its last, best chance of ever coming clean.
Certainly the fact that the report was reluctantly commissioned by the bishops who have been responsible for the crisis does not reflect well on its credibility. Nor does the fact that they only reason they ever did so was due to the constant and unrelenting pressure since the early 1990s by victims and advocacy groups, and later, the news media — not to mention the drain on their treasuries from huge settlements and dwindling contributions.
Many dioceses with much to hide did not want to co-operate. Religious orders, the report acknowleges, were even worse. The results are still missing from some groups, and the rest are spinning their denials and minimalizations as fast at their highly paid PR firms can turn. And as it's all self-reported, there is no guarantee of any kind of completeness nor accuracy.
The focus was criticized as too narrow, being concerned solely with child sexual abuse. Other situations where clerics have sexually acted out with adult women and men, nuns and seminarians, have not been looked at; nor the effect on any offspring they may have sired in the process. For that matter, the personal cost to victims and their families remains uncounted. How many lives destroyed through alcohol, drugs, unsafe sex or violence have there been? How much abuse has been repeated by its victims? How many suicides and ruined families? How can the total cost ever be calculated?
There has been much complaining by victims, also, that only a handful were asked to testify, that there was too little time and too many restrictions. Many, too, point out that not all victims have yet come forward by any means. Indeed, even if there are no new cases, just the repressed memories alone of the still-unrecognized victims will guarantee that these numbers will only increase over the next twenty years.
And nothing has been said about multiple abusers and rings who swapped victims around like trading cards...
Nonetheless, A Report on the Crisis in the Catholic Church in the United States has generated a fog of figures, which cannot obscure the extent of this massive failure of institutional religion. It is indeed a crisis. Though this is a step forward, it is not the solution by any means, but a half-hearted admission that there is a problem.
Here are a few of the highlights.
US clerics (priests, deacons, bishops, etc.) accused of abuse from 1950-2002: 4,392.
About 4% of the 109,694 serving during those 52 years.
Individuals making accusations: 10,667.
Victims' ages: 5.8% under 7; 16% ages 8-10; 50.9% ages 11-14; 27.3% ages 15-17.
Victims' gender: 81% male, 19% female
Duration of abuse: Among victims, 38.4% said all incidents occurred within one year; 21.8% said one to two years; 28%, two to four years; 11.8% longer.
Victims per priest: 55.7% with one alleged victim; 26.9% with two or three; 13.9% with four to nine; 3.5% with 10 or more (these 149 priests caused 27% of allegations).
Abuse locations: 40.9% at priest's residence; 16.3% in church; 42.8% elsewhere.
Known cost to dioceses and religious orders: $572,507,094 (does not include the $85 million Boston settlement and other expenses after research was concluded). (Hartford Courant, 2/27/04)
It should be noted that 30% of all accusations included in these figures were not investigated as they were deemed unsubstantiated (10%) or because the accused priest was dead or inactive (20%). They do not include allegations that were "unfounded" or later recanted.
In any case, all these figures are widely suspected to be grossly underestimated. For example, the late Fr. Tom Economus, former President of the Linkup, a national survivors' advocacy group, said back in the mid-90s that he knew of "1,400 insurance claims on the books and that the Church has paid out over $1 billion in liability with an estimated $500 million pending." (Emphasis added.)
He also said that over 800 priests had been removed from ministry and that there might be as many as 5,000 with allegations against them, which is not that far off. He often claimed that by far the most calls he received from all victims of any kind of clergy abuse were those from males who suffered abuse in their youth in the Catholic Church. Certainly the numbers, which show that the highest number of victims were 12 year old boys and that 80% of the abuse was homosexual in nature, validate that anecodotal evidence, too. In fact, while the numbers of young children and girls did not vary much, the report shows an astounding six-fold increase in the abuse of boys aged 11-17 between the 1950s and 70s. And the figures for males stayed high through the 1980s.
Could it be that once the exits were opened by Vatican II, the good priests who could departed to marry, and the maladjusted ones who remained were left to their own devices?
In any case, Fr. Tom Doyle, a canon lawyer with more experience than any in these cases, has raised many questions over the validity and methodology of the study. He has said that he thought many cases were still hidden, pointing out the low numbers for the 1950s.
'"It's not over with," Doyle said. "The heart of the matter is: Why was there this massive betrayal? Why did they move [abusers] around for years, when they knew what they were doing? Why have they continued to re-victimize the victims by stonewalling, and why they have never turned in any of these known pedophiles?"'(Hartford Courant, 2/26/04)

I'm really sick of your threats and taunts
You are absolutely incorrect, Jesus founded no church, he founded a movement, based on a universal concept, of love your neighbor as yourself.
He handed the keys of this movement to Mary Magdalene, and that stubborn hot headed Peter usurped her leadership. It morphed from there to this, this bastardized version of his movement.

The proof of the truth of the Catholic religion olis the holiness of its founder, Jesus Christ, and the fact that He promised tovstay with the Church until the end of time.
I asked you about that a few days ago and you never answered it.
The term "end of time" is not in the bible. Did you make it up? You are wont to make such things up.
Unrepentant sinners sure do hope Jesus wasn't serious when He spoke of Hell fire, and they sure do hope that the Catholic religion is not the true religion.
How do you know so much about what other people hope for? Have you taken a survey of unrepentant sinners? There is no Hell so it's likely that you simply misunderstand Jesus or that words have been added to Him by people with agendas.
And we know the Catholic religion is not the true religion. Jesus would never found a church whose clergy was riddled with homosexuals and pedophile child molesters and priests who have sex with nuns in violation of their vows of chastity and popes having illegitimate children and doctrines that force the members to disobey and defy God and who take on the mantle of infallibility, something that only God can have.
They hope in vain.
Your hope for Hell and for your church being the true church are in vain. The church Jesus founded is the spiritual brotherhood of all believers.
Mat 15:8-9 These [Catholics] draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. ...in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Sometimes, maybe, back in the day, but not now, not Mary, not the so-called saints, etc. Anyway, that's from the old testament. If you believed that you'd be a Jew. It's their scriptures, not yours. You're just fishing for verses to justify your disobedience to God and the 2nd commandment. Jesus said "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men," but you thought He said, "Follow the Catholic church and fish for verses until you find one that works for you and your doctrines of men." Exodus has nothing to do with you or with your Catholic church. Talk about cultural appropriation!
And where do those verses say anything about venerating those golden cherubs?

YOu do exactly the same.
Jesus in the NT says, "Call no man your father upon the earth: "for one is your Father, which is in heaven." (Matthew 23:9)
and you and your church do whatever the hell you want.
The OT says, " Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:
and you and your church ignore it and do whatever the hell you want.

Jesus=Church
Church=Jesus
Jesus=Church

So if Jesus is the church, and if Jesus is God, then God is the church the church is God, right? Do you believe that your church IS God? If Jesus is your church then your church MUST be God, right?

FJO believes the Old Testament when it agrees with him and disagrees with it when it doesn't. This is not surprising, seeing how he does it with the New Testament also.
I see Furch beat me to it
But, I am gonna say it anyway.
YOU, LUD, DO THE SAME

It would seem to me it's a battle of the wills here---
Lud and fjo will which will win ?
No one is worried about the salvation of the other---
as long as their will wins this unholy arm wrestling match-----
what about heart the intent----?
This is just an observation (could have got it wrong)
To Lud the church is his woman
He will defend her to his death does NOT matter how corrupt she is.
and the Urantia book to fjo is like in his DNA (family)
At any cost this his manhood (DNA_offspring) (his baby) is tied to this-----
How Jesus like of them both---? hahhhahahahahhahhahhhhahhhahahaaa
and me I am a cranky old woman who just wants to die laughing
Cause this is all just a joke---
How we must entertain the gods with our laughter tears and despair--
in an ego- gold universe ---(my opinions)

It's not a battle of wills, Still here, it's a battle of teachings---do we want the teachings of Jesus Christ, as handed down in His Holy Church for twenty centuries, or do we want the racist, eugenicist, multi-god teachings of William Sadler, who came about 1900 years after Jesus did?

Stillherehaha, Ludlow and his church are in rebellion against God with their refusal to obey God and with their doctrines of mere men. Jesus knows all about them:
Mar 7:9 Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Mat 15:8-9 These [Catholics] draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. ...in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
They worship Jesus IN VAIN.
Also, as you know, they claim to cast out devils with their exorcisms. And Jesus addresses that too:
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Jesus says they DO NOT love Him because they refuse to obey Him and worse, the defy Him and do exactly what He said not to do:
"Call no man your father upon the earth: "for one is your Father, which is in heaven." (Matthew 23:9)
Jesus: "Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46)
“Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.” (Mark 7:9)
"If a man love me, he will keep my words."(John 14:23)
"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings." (John 14:24)
And the word which you have heard, is not mine; but the Father's who sent me." (John 14:24)
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:4)
They do not know God, Still and they don't love Him.
I have been trying my best to bring Ludlow out of his cult but he has been indoctrinated to resist being deprogrammed. That's the way cults do. And not only is he in the Catholic cult, but he's in several sub cults, the Cult of Mary, and the Pope Cult, you know, the ones where you bow down to statues of Mary and where you kiss the pope's ring and call him, "The Holy Father." Those are sub cults within the larger organizational cult.
The Jehovah's Witnesses, which you know something about, have the same sort of organizational cult and the same sort of brainwashing and mind control that the Catholics have.

What about this, Ludlow?:
You have said:
"Jesus IS the Church, and the Church is Jesus.

So if Jesus is the church, and if Jesus is God, then God is the church the church is God, right? Do you believe that your church IS God? If Jesus is your church then your church MUST be God, right?
