OK,I don't mind telling anyone that I am a Techno Weenie, so I need some help on this. What is a network card and if it doesn't work how do I fix it? Is anyone who can help me on this from the El Paso area? My main computer is about 10 yrs old.
Thanks in advance.

a network card is where you plug in your wire from your cable or dsl modem. if it truely does not work you can go to walmart or best buy and buy one and have it installed. it is a simple procedure that would add a second network port that you would use instead of the old one.
hope that helps

it was working and just stopped. I have internet thru cable co. They did a check and said i have no network card working. its been crashing alot. i got a new modem today, but it didn't help, but was able to fire up the laptop with it. I work with alot of IT guys so I guess I'll have to haul into work so someone can work on it. Maybe a new puter is in my future. Thanks for all the help.

if its just the network card went out, one can be picked up for about $30. install takes all of 5 minutes on them. nothing major, unless you have other things going on. sounds like the network card went kaput on it.

It's a 10 year old computer...you got your moneys-worth out if it.
At 10 years old....it's a relic....and no doubt VERY VERY slow.
Consider buying a newer used PC for $200 to $300.
(just look at some of the Dell listings on EBAY for example...many other resellers out there too)
(...or buy a new one if you can afford it)
BUT...
Don't throw new money at old technology...especially that old.

funny thing is that the equipment from 10 years ago outlasts the newer stuff
