Has anybody ever used this on their dogs. I have a shih Tzu and used it on her - she weighs 13 lbs and this was for 9-20 lb dogs. The day I put it on my dog she got very sick with diahrreah and then in the area that I applied it on the back of her neck/back - she got a very bad sore that scabbed over - almost like the solution burned her skin. i will not use this again obviously.

Hi,
I have never used that particular brand. I would consult your vet... your dog may have been too young for that product or may be allergic to something in it. The vets that I worked with at a shelter all agreed that Frontline Plus was the best to use.
I use that on my guy when we are upstate as it's infested with ticks this year, and (knock on wood) ain't no bugs on him. lol
Good luck

I have used this product as well as other over-the-counter brands. They are not good. This one left my c*cker spaniel with a bald spot on the neck. I have not used anything but Frontline Top Spot or Frontline Plus since. For both my Chi and my cat. You need a script from the vet but I order mine online and it is so much cheaper. And they WORK. No fleas, no ticks EVER!

Thx very much - yeah - the sergeants was an over the counter and I will never use it again. I appreciate the response. It wsas cheaper than frontline but I guess like the saying goes "you get what you pay for". I don't believe it is her age though because she is 15 months old. Well frontline here I come.

She was probably allergic to it. I've used all brands. Here, we can buy frontline over the counter, Adams, Bio-spot, ect. They are basically the same except for the poison and the amount of concentration. I've found that if you totally eradicate the fleas beforehand from your pet, home and yard, then you can switch to the cheaper ones or just baths. This is as long as your pet doesnt roam or come in contact with a lot of other dogs.

she actually didn't have fleas and I was using it as a preventive. The first month I got her I used a pill that my vet carries and it made her somewhat lethargic but this sergeant's gold made her soooo sick and the scabs are just now going away where it burned her skin.
