Well, only 6 options on these polls, but if you have another thought please let us know.

Whatever you choose or add, please elaborate as to who/what you think he is/was.

Also, do you think he's a historical figure, a mythological figure or a historical figure who has gotten a lot of mythology mixed into his stories as time went on?

God? Man? Either or both?

Namaste,

Daniel

I'd say if he wasn't a Bodhisatva, then he was certainly on his way there. I'm sure a lot of myth later got mixed in just based on the similarities to pagan myths of the time period.

My selection is not contained within your list of answers.

- A fictitious character which just so happens to share
the exact same characteristics as Horus, Krishna, Dionysus,
Mithra, and etc which date back up to 2,500 years before he
supposedly walked the Earth.

Jesus, like many sun gods before him, is just an
astrological myth used to explain the travels of
the sun through the sky, signal seasonal change,
and his followers represent the 12 Houses of
the Zodiac. Jesus was used to represent the
start of the Age of Pisces.

Yeah, I've seen zeitgeist as well. And, yes, there was no way for me to cover the topic with a thorough list of choices given the limits of this forum's polls.

I disagree only in that I believe he was a historical figure and a wise man, but that a lot of myth built up around him afterward based on popular mythos and astrology of the time. Again, I'm not saying you are necessarily wrong, only that I disagree with your view insomuch as that point.

Namaste,

Daniel

I've seen and read more than just that movie.

IF, and my opinion stresses IF, he existed, he
had a mastery of the mentality that current quantum physics
has been trying to explain since the 80s and earlier.

If electrons are waves of probability that collapse into
a choice made by the observer, he was able to perform his
miracles because of his understanding.

Tibet is where many of the manifestation meditations
come from and I heard of "a bearded man from the west"
type story from there. I just cannot recall where.

I'm somewhat going to digress here, but I have personally
experienced a fraction of the power displayed by him
in the "great" book. From healing myself and others of pain and
creating circumstances and events that lead to what I
desired.

So, in conclusion, yes he could have existed, but
I don't believe that is the case. However, it is
a breath of fresh air to speak about this topic and
not face harsh opposition, but open minds. Thank you.

Peace

I think he was an enlightened man who got a myth projected onto him.. I enjoy unravelling the mystery...

The starter of this topic appears to be a person with other religious/spiritual beliefs that don't fit in the other groups.

So it's in the right spot.

According to the description, it's not
the topic, but the people discussing.

It's funny that your post followed one remarking how we can talk about it without facing harsh opposition. Interesting juxtaposition.

Anyways, when I am interested in a Christian view of Jesus/Yeshua I ask Christians. Right now I'm seeking views by those who don't necessarily consider themselves "Christian" but who realize that the man, or the myths surrounding him, has/have had a vast impact on religion and history.

This group is titled "other religions" not "no-Jesus" Many people from non-Christian religions still have a view about Jesus/Yeshua because we're surrounded by people who have views about him. In addition there are highly alternative Christians (such as some spiritualist new age Christians) who would consider themselves "other religion" and would be made very uncomfortable in a Christian forum.

So, whichever way you approach it, this post was, and is, highly appropriate here. And thank you to the other gentleman who also defended the placement of this thread.

Personally I'm not Christian in the slightest, but I think Yeshua's core message was right on target.

No worries, she placed that in my thread too.

I agree there. The core message is lovely, the supernatural myth is entertainment.

Good point!

I meant it when I said I enjoy unravelling the mystery, so to have a place to discuss alternative views on the man/myth without being jumped on with hellfire and brimstone is fabulous if you ask me, so thanks for starting it

I guess for those somehow offended, perhaps there are other threads more interesting to peruse?
