First off.. to all those that have sent a wink my way instead of hitting the X button so quick.. thank you.. your very kind .
But why not send a message? Is it saying "wink .. I like you.. now you message me back? ".. or when you both send a wink its time for open communication?.. Just curious to the ettiquite of the site. Do I wink back.. Do I send a message?.
I dont know.. maybe some people dont like the messages right off?
Anyways.. any thoughts to this?
I may have to respond to more of those winks and I might get somewhere huh? lol

isn't it just an icebreaker tho? I try to respond to winks when I seldomly get them But I rarely ever send them tho....only to friends. It seems that so many people here object to them.

Personally I rarely use the wink. I usually send a message. I may wink sometimes if I don't think she would be interesting so instead of wasting time sending a message I may just wink. Another reason why I don't like to send a wink is because most females will ignore them. That is my input.

Why even complain about receiving winks. It's a positive form of communication. Better a wink than a nasty email.
Men and women who send winks may be a little shy. Most times they want to initiate communication that way to see if they would get a response back and if they do, more than likely they will initiate conversation.
Now if you wink back and they either wink back at you or don't respond at all, simply move on. But from my experiences, those who have winked at me first and I followed back with a wink, 95% of the time those ladies started conversation with me.
Another reason why some send winks is because many a time they have sent messages only to see their wasted messages simply get deleted. So we do know that many emails simply get deleted.
These are probably the top reasons why people send winks.

When I first started on here I would send a wink, just to make someone's day, or simply because I thought they were cute. I never expected a wink back, but if I did get one, I'd just smile and pretty much that would be the end of it. But that's not a good idea I've learned now. I also don't know what to do when I get one and I'm not interested either now. I just sent a guy an e-mail (who had sent me a wink) and told him I had a few flaws compared to what he wanted in his profile. My nice way of saying that I'm not interested. Guys act tough, but really get their feelings hurt easily - not sending a wink back, but then if you do just to respond in kind; they get the wrong idea. I don't know either I guess. I think we're all just trying to figure it out. Plus, when you run across someone you REALLY feel may be IT; you're not going to quietly just sit back and wait are you? I wouldn't!

Bottom line: don't use winks...they confuse everyone. Send a damn email. It takes 2 minutes. If you're that busy that you can't, then you shouldn't be on DH, because you obviously have a time management problem.

You got that, women? For those of you women who hate winks, this is why some men send them. Message deleting has become an epidemic for some of you females.

I hope that message didnt give the impression I didnt like them (winks).. Im a bit shy myself so sometimes it is hard to start off a message to someone without knowing if they'd even be interested or not.
Thanks for the replies everyone!..

Okay guys; you do realize that a person could've read the e-mails before they deleted them? I just told someone this very thing...I delete after I read (almost ALWAYS respond first of course) just to keep my in box neat and clean.
