well we been busting lil bit(trouble 5'2') quite a bit..but you know my sister and mom were much the same way..they were the first to welcome a new one(animal) with pets and lil scratches..gentled many older animals that had come from much larger herds..knew when the animals were in distress much sooner than my brother and I even though we did the daily chores and really watched..they just knew cause they really cared in a much different way..horray for em..horray

still like my lamb with mint, and my beef rare!!....j

Well not only sick, but almost to the birthin stage..mom could just put her hand on em and knew within about four hours when the time was coming..when we switched to AI(artifical insemmentation) she also was quite good at and regular at making twins..never could get the knack of that more than half the time..she could get it almost one hundred percent.. and we only had 50 registered hereford and twins in the older cows was not only good but profitable...j

I have a good friend who says the difference between what you will eat and what you wont eat is about 24 hours. Hunger is one of those things that most Americans are lucky enough to have never experienced.

Amen to that.. I hope I never have to find out exactly what I would have to eat.. And to answer the question of the post.. I do have an interest in a half grown calf name Joe... as in Sloppy Joe.. My kids are raising one to share a bit. Being on a farm/in country for 28 years.. you learn everything has a second purpose. Breeding stock and Food.

lol Reminds me to back on a Friday night.. sis and I went driving the back roads and drinking. Started back home and saw alot of road kill along the way. I'd stop at each roadkill... oppossums, racoons, rabbits, buzzards, skunks, etc and put an empty beer can in their paws or under their wings LMAO Was funny as hell to get up the next morning to go to work down this long stretch of road and see all these critters with empty beer cans. I can only imagine what others thought as they drove the road. Dem critters must had one hell of a night!

One year here the high school kids would paint a body outline around any road kill they hit. There sure ended up being lots of opossum paintings on the road.

Something pertaining to home.

Most animals are domesticated by Man including cattle, dolphins, dogs, cat, birds.

Would you eat Fluffy or Fido?

In the United States, it is considered a social taboo and illegal in some jurisdictions to eat dogs or other animals traditionally considered to be pets or companion animals.

During their 1803–1806 expedition, Meriwether Lewis and the other members of the Corps of Discovery consumed dog meat supplied by Native American tribes including the Paiutes and Wah-clel-lah Indians, a branch of the Watlalas, the Clatsop, the Teton Sioux (Lakota), the Nez Perce Indians, and the Hidatsas. Lewis and the members of the expedition ate dog meat except William Clark who reportedly could not bring himself to eat dogs.

when i was married, we had 400 acres and many cows, horses, etc. some cows were used for show by my kids and those are pets. the steers we put up for beef were simply named "next" or "hamburger". lol! they have a bull named freddie that my oldest used to show. he's like a big ole puppy dog. got out of the pasture one day, so my ex put a lead on him and sat on the tailgate while i drove very slow and we walked him back up the highway to his pasture. you should've seen people slamming on their brakes, pointing and laughing! they definitely have personalities. my son had a heifer named queenie, but she was kinda difficult at times in the show ring, so he'd call her meanie-queenie.
