The torshen bars will give me some lift. I was worried more about tire rub either on the frame or the fenders. But, I think I would rather just talk to the cute girl who knows what a torshen bar is!

I had a Mitshubishi Colt Rodeo 3.0L V6 4X4 - had a "little" acident with it in Namidia in the desert - written off.
Now I have an Isuzu KB320 3.2L V6 4X4. - NICE - just a bit heavy on fuel though
but what is nice about it is when I drop Opel GSI's and similar stuff with it at robots!
Quite good for a 4X4 I think! I must stop doing that - tyres are expensive!

I built a 400 small block with 400 Turbo tranny, 10in pro comp lift and 40in ground hog II tires. Its my daily driver lol. I have yet to find better shocks! The truck is completely solid and almost ready for paint! I can't wait! Any ideas on what shocks to run?

Rancho makes a great shock and Tech advice for the right set for your truck.

I had a Jeep JK (4 door) for a while, did the usual Dana 44 locker axles, suspension, 37s, MasterCraft seats, PIAA lights, Warn winch, etc.
The very things that made it a great off road vehicle made it HORRIBLE to drive on the road.
I HATED driving that thing on the street and ended-up trailering it to places like Ocotillo Wells and Moab. Ultimately I put a 6.1 liter HEMI in it and a guy offered me good money for it. Had to sell it, glad I did!

I have a bone stock '77 Chevy Custom Deluxe 1/2T Longbed Fleetside. It has a 350, 4-speed, lockouts, and only has 86k but looks like it has a lot more miles than that because it was a cattle farmer's truck (looks and smells like it, too LOL!!) My plans for the truck are to keep it mostly Stock as it is to be a work vehicle, not a mudder or pavement princess. I do, however intend to clean the truck up and make it nicer than it is now with as little cash as possible by using used or fabbed parts wherever I can, although safety related things like tires, brakes, etc. I'll buy new, of course. Even on the cash outlay, my plan is to use as little of my paycheck as possible as even though I don't recommend everyone try this, I found I'm pretty decent at playing Blackjack without losing my shirt, so I've earmarked any winnings I take home to spend on fixing up my pickup, using my job earnings only if I have to. Questons nd comments welcome, thanks for reading.

Here's a couple of 78' Chevy's I had before I sold them cause I was supposed to die. The closer one is 1/2 ton Chevy 4X4 with a 350ci. Headers coming out under the doors, the motor turning 350hp with an Edlebrock top end and an RV cam. Rainbow tinted windows with a slider rear and sunroof. 33x12x15 wheels with skid plates and axle trusses. Bed rails and tube grill. Stereo and amp pushing 8 speakers. The white one is a 3/4 ton 4X4 with a 454ci and a Themoquad carb.
This is my truck now. A farm beater. A 1989 3/4 ton Chevy 4X4. 5.0L. I have a Tommy Gate I took off it that I want to sell.

I drive a 93 ford f350 diesel, stick with 4x4. i took out the original engine and put in one from a 2009 f45o and put that in with a 6speed tranny and 2 speed custom transfer-case. i did all the work on my own. i also own an 82 Scottsdale with a 7in lift with monster tires(20in rims 39in tire) diesel conversion and a frame integrity upgrade along with shocks and suspension from an 05 ram 3500, in adition to the goose-neck hitch for my cherished army grade hummer h1 with the engine off an old international hauler and tranny custom made from John Wood, with a super duty super charger and magnaflow exhaust. I even take my girlfriends AWD dodge charger out to the wall because its fast enough to climb it lol

Your not gonna hurt that cummins diesel with any chip change. Those engines will go 700000mi without a rebuild, if anything you'll tear the transmission out of it first.
I talked to a guy in a 2500 that was pullin a cattle trailer a while back, and he told me that he had 250000mi on the truck, had been through 2 transmissions, and 1rear end and had never touched the cummins engine. My.02

I've got a 1969 m715 1and1/4 ton military cargo truck that only has 1837 original miles on it. Got it from an equipment auction. Was kept inside a firehouse and used to fight brushfires before it was retired.
This truck came from the factory with Dana 60 front and 70rear diff. with 5.88 gears. It's not fast but will pull a house.

First of all I'd like to say there's alot of cool built trucks here. Not alot of the magazine cover stuff which is what real trucks are about. I enjoy the hell out of off-roading my trucks almost as much as I do just turning wrenches on them with good friends. I've built quite a few overwhelming trucks in my day(3 of them on my profile) and its cool to see others enjoying similar interests.

I've had a number of 4x4s in my life. Started out with a 74 CJ5, ended up rolling it on Halloween night in 89, thanks to a stupid woman deciding to turn left, right in front of me, I drove over the back of her car, flipped it and slid on the roll bar for 50 feet. With the insurance money, I bought a 73 CJ5 and put all my old stuff from the 74 on it. I still have it, did a spring over and reverse shackle on it. I also bought a 76 Chevy shortbed with a shell and 4" lift. That soon changed to 9" lift and 39's. Had that til 95 rolled it thanks to a wrong way driver. Then I bought an 81 chevy longbed, turned out to be a POS I knew the seller, and knew the truck ran good etc. and just befor I boughht it the Jackass swapped out the engine for a high milage engine the ran good but was near death. It only lasted about a year befor it died on me about 70 miles from home. After that I bought a 93 ford F-250, was a great truck till the transfer case went out, then a year later the tranny died, leaving me at the Oklahoma/Arkansas line. I live in Missouri.
Now after all that. I just blew the motor and it will cost 2200 for a new motor. Now all that is left is the Jeep and I don't like to drive it on the road. Just not too road friendly.
This old dude knows his trucks

Changed the wheels & tires and we were off and running - even with a 2" lift and 33" tires the Rubicons are incredibly capable vehicles.

Well my toy is a 74 chevy silverado reg. cab 4x4 with a flatbed. 6" lift, 383 stroker, 35" mud country tires, couple more little things and lots more planned. I also have a 05 gmc sierra white crew cab shortbox 4x4 with the duramax and allison. It is straight piped with a chip and upgraded inlet. I love them both. I would also love to get my hands on military surplus rigs like a deuce and a half or a 5 ton.

Forgot why I didn`t buy a new gm truck 20 years ago. Looked under it and there was a 1/4 inch rust on it. Turns my stomach to see my 04 sierra. Had it 2 years and haven`t put a 1000 miles on it and was garaged. Don`t think they paint anything but what you see from the top. Will probably forget about getting a new one and chop it and put bigger tires on it.

Love my 91 Dodge W250 5.9 Cummins on 35s. It has a few upgrades and she rolls the coal I use six were others take eight. Finishing up the body now then a few more performance parts and she'll be ready for pulling and tug a truck, can't wait

Damn just now noticed the newer 4/4s don`t have a actual rear end in the front. No way to lift the pos.

Sorry been a few years since I worked on my last gm 4/4 and can see why it was better. Looks like I will have to find a southern truck and keep it going. Like that will be an easy find.

hey looks like I found the right page. I hve a 78' Dodge W150. I call it my never ending project. I towed her home with a blown 360 and a seized up rear end. I built this puppy from scratch. It's got a 318 long block with R/T heads, slightly bigger cam, and 2 1/2 inch strait pipe exhaust. I put high arch springs in the front, and a shckle flip in the rear. was a half ton. But now it has a Dana 60 3/4 ton free float rear end a dana 44 front. I ripped out the bench seat and put 5 point harness seats and built a center console out of diamond plate aluminum. I painted it black stin with some ghost skulls here and there. 4 ton whench in the front/ with custom brushgaurd, and the back bumper has a built in cherry pickerwith a 1000 pound motor(made by Ironmule. My tranny went out so as soon as I get a new one we're off and wheelin. See if I can't break it. since I can't seem to put any pics on here guess I'll put 1 on my profile. If you wanna see more contact me and I'll give ya my facebook info
