For the record, I agree with what Dynamic said. However, I do think that this is a topic worth commenting on. People who want to post their picture should go ahead and put forth whatever image they think portrays them the best.
I’m not going to lie, if all I know about a women is that she’s fat, dating her is not going to be the 1st thing on my mind. But what if the most compatible girl for me is overweight? What if she walks up to me one day and says, “Hi, I fat,” and then I never give her a second glance?
So please women, don’t do that! Put your best foot forward. Use a nice photo of yourself and don’t beat yourself up for being heavy in your personal description. If someone truly respects your opinion and you say you’re ugly enough times, they’ll start to believe it.
It’s nice that these dating sites include a spot to list physical characteristics. That way you can be honest about what you look like without having to work in the words, “I’m fat,” when you talk about yourself. Let the people who are only concerned about the physical read that part, and everyone else can read the rest.
Well that’s my two cents. Sorry about the long, unsolicited opinion.
Disclaimer: Opinion not valid for women looking for men specifically after a BBW. In that case, go nuts! Tell ‘em you got back.
PS: On the off chance Hard2Starboard is a real person, give the guy a break. For all we know, someone could have just broken his heart and he got home, got drunk, and then spewed the most hatful thing he could think of onto the internet. Anyone can have a bad day.

WOW! Heavy people would'nt HAVE to tell a little fib if "MOST" people were'nt so superficial, and judged them so harshly. Everyone deserves love and attention, not just thin people. I have to admitt though that the first guy I met here showed me a pic. that was at least 10 years old...Now THAT annoyed me, but more because of his obvious lack of self-esteem than anything else, so that was that.
This is a great way to meet people, and you never know where one of us may run into one of "YOU" so we should always be kind...No matter what..be kind.
P.S. No i'm not heavy. i'm just compassionate.

me being what u call a "fat chick" will respond to this question because obviously whoever asked this question is an ignoramus! i post head shots because i don't want to receive messages from people who want to insult me or just hit on me because of my breast size.
i am a grown woman with nothing to hide, i will tell a man that I'm big...unlike people on this site who don't post pics, lie about what they look like, or act like there is something to hide. people are here to meet other people, and if u dont like what u see... keep your mouth shut n keep it moving! just cuz u dont like it doesn't me nobody does...n grow the f*ck up big girls or "fat chicks" are people too n can be just as mean to ignorant underweight people as they are to us.

I would like to posit that be you fat or be you thin, you can still be a beautiful woman. The eyes are the window to the soul, hence head shots. It gives people the opportunity to see you as a person, not a body. Reading the profile also helps too, guys. Not only can you read about the persons hobbies, interests and/or body type, but it should give you a conversation starter. I am consistently amazed at the people who contact me who are the complete opposite of who I am looking for. I say I am not into text messaging and/or the abbreviations used when text messaging and reading "u r kewl" sets my teeth on edge, I get responses like "how r u u r prety" I say I am looking for someone articulate with varied interests who likes good conversation, I get one line, or better yet, one word messages with a profile that has nothing in it. Words (and spell check) are your FRIENDS people!
Of course, my profile on this site has nothing in it as yet. Is it even worth filling out? Or do guys just look at the pictures?

Wow, that is really offensive. Too bad that the person above me is effectively marking himself as an a-hole on this site, and eliminating many possible women with his blatant jackassery. You know, this 'issue' is never going to be solved. There will always be shallow people who make the rest of their gender look bad. Personally, I would much rather go out with an overweight man or woman who was a good person than some skinny jerk who looked good. To be blatantly honest, I have never had to worry about being overweight but until I was about 22 years old I was my current height (5' 7.5") and weighed about 100lbs. Fast metabolism I guess, but my point is that people were very rude and mean to me about being UNDERWEIGHT and made comments to me all the time. And no, it was not that they were jealous, I looked REALLY bad. Trust me. My happiest moment was when I got on the scale and it read 118.  Now I am a happy 125 pounds. So I really identify with all the beautiful women on here who are addressing the weight issue. I just wish that we all didn't feel that we had to defend against the ignorant comments of a few jerks.

I am not picky about looks, which is what this thread is about. If you knew me in 'real life' you would know this is true. My response was more about someone making an a-hole comment on this thread again when it has been beat to death (admittedly by me as well ) and offending more people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but they are also entitled to MY opinion. Heh heh. And you yourself are a beautiful woman, so you must have experienced people liking you just for that. I just think that there are more important things to focus on about people than their physical appearance, be it good or bad.

As I have mentioned earlier on this thread....... I think the bottom line was when people purposely deceive others for their own selfish reasons. I take internet dating as...... Anyone can be anything they want on here. They can say whatever and be whomever they want to behind the safety of the keyboard. They have that to hide behind. But a person, who wants to genuinely meet and make some real connections, whether it be a friend, lover, whatever..... They would be off on the wrong foot starting off on a deceitful note. An overweight person who just post a headshot, I do not consider in this catagory for they are just posting what they are comfortable with and its them. I'm more disturbed with the person who posts a distant shot, and claims they are 15+ yrs younger. Maybe I wouldn't have...... Maybe I would have.........but I would move on in a heartbeat when I discovered they purposely mislead.
