Rich Franklin has himself a bit of a dilemma if you ask me. He beats the hell out of everyone in the 185 division, except for Anderson Silva, who has now beat him twice in a row. And beat him very very badly. Rich has absolutely no chance of ever beating Silva. No one does really.

So what is Rich supposed to do? Retire? That would be lame. Move up in weight? Maybe, but that might not work out. He is a big middleweight but would be at best an average sized light heavyweight.

Rich is one of my favorite fighters so I want to see him come back stronger. But he won't beat Silva. He is just too good, no one has even TOUCHED him yet. Should Rich switch to another organization and finish out his career? I think that would be lame too but I don't see much else he can do unless Silva retires or leaves the UFC.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Silva has been beat before and although he is phenominal, someone will connect and put him down eventually. Unfortunately Poor Rich Franklin is not going to be the man to do that. His style and mind set are not going to win against Silva. He should just hang out and wait for someone to knock Silva out of the way. The wierd thing about fighters is that someone might come in and beat Silva desisively that Rich Franklin can take apart. It's how two fighters mate up, it's happened many times before. The bad part is that if that does happen, Silva will be right back in line.

Ufc should go back to old school and eliminate weight divisions...A fighter doesn't care who they fight or their opponents weight.....Royce Gracie won three consecutive tounaments being out weighed by more than 100 pounds in many cases.

In my weight class I have more than a foot of arm reach advantage....But, I always train and fight with people who out weigh me by quite a bit....

But, self-control, knowledge and leverage even everything out.

I loved watching fights that have a lil guy just dominating the ones who weren't as calm or skilled.

In the mixed martial arts game...ANYONE can win if they have a good night. The playing field is level. I have seen Silvia lose to less talented fighters than Rich Franklin...When he had his elbow snapped by a total under dog....he figured out he could lose too.

Sorry Dude but, If you think a man should just step aside and let someone else beat a man you don't think can be beaten.....that tells me that you don't actually fight. No real fighter would consider that thought!

No, actually I do. I spar hard with my son and son inlaw who both fight as amatures. I know Rich would'nt want to take it that way but it would be the only chance he'd have outside a lucky night. You seen that "what the hell is happening to me" far away look in his eyes both times he fought Anderson. You know the one I mean. You tell me a better game plan.

Man you are so right on this. In the second fight he was looking at the clock the entire second half of the first round. I was like WTF is he doing?? I am almost certain he got hurt by a knee to the ribs again early on. He never looks at the clock unless he is trying to figure out if he can finish someone before the round ends.

Rich can't just step aside and hope someone beats Silva. Because Silva will just end up back for a rematch and then what? Rich is 33 years old, he isn't going to get too much better at fighting at this point. I mean if he was 25 then I'd say he can still improve enough to possibly beat him in the future. But he started MMA too late in his life to be as good as someone like Silva, who has probably been training since he was 5.

I think he is screwed at that weight class, along with everyone else, as long as Silva stays hungry. The only way to beat him is to IMMEDIATELY take him to the ground. I mean right away, because if you stand with him for more than 30 seconds he will hurt you. It's amazing.

There is no doubt, Anderson has phenominal talent and the conditioning to execute it. Rich really is at a cross road. I felt really bad that he could'nt pull what he needed out of himself. He should be able to have a very fufilling career training if he stays onboard training for UFC. AS good as anderson is, somebody will have something that he does'nt have an answer for too. ( Just can't be freeked out by him )

I think he should keep fighting, I mean that is what he does for a living. I saw Silva get beat decisively in Pride fighting by Ryo Chonan with a Submission (Flying Scissor Heel Hook). Chonan is scheduled to fight in UFC 78 against Karo Parisyan. That might make things interesting again.
