I see so many pictures here of people with tatoos and body piercings. I think these things are ugly and make a person look less desirable.
Are there some people who believe that tatoos and piercings make you look better?
,or is this just a way of rebelling against your parents, i. e. the baby boomer generation does'nt want their kids to wear them, so the kids wear them to show defiance?
e.g. Mom says "those gold things hanging from you nostrils look like snot" Her daughter replies " I don't care if those things prove to everyone that I am stupid, I think they're beautiful.

dude, are u living under a rock or what. tattoos are it. girls that have tattoos, to me, says they are uninhibited. people that get tattoos, generally, live how they wanna live, not burdened by what society thinks is right. maybe your just afraid of a little pain. to get a tattoo, u must go thru some pain. no matter what anyone tells you, it does hurt to a degree.

sky,,,if they bother you then don't contact them....it's a form of self expression.....no different than the hippie era with long hair and bell bottoms....or the poodle skirt and bobby sox....you will be so much happier if you embrace the unique 'differences' of others and appreciate them for who they are....it is no different than if you don't like dopers,,,,don't hang around them,,,,if you don't like thieves,,,stay away from them,,,but the clothing or the tattoos or piercing that others have bring no harm to you....so let people be themselves so YOU can be who YOU are....have a nice night kiddo....

You know let me tell you something for one there is nothing wrong with tattoos or body piercings. They do not make a person look ugly. THey make a person stand out from people like you. I love tattoos and I love piercings and i wouldnt trade them for nothing. I know that you are probably just someone that is an idiot and does not know what they are talking about. So yeah just get over it.

To each his/her own. Some tatt's are interesting, some are ugly, some look bad and some make men or women look like trash. I have no problem with them but I do hate it when I see a beautiful woman all marked up. I see some women with small, well placed tattoo's that make them look hot and sexy but my personal feelings is that I've never seen a woman with a tattoo that made her look better. As for piercings, it's about the same thing. A little modest piercing may be fine but when they look like something out of the jungle then I just feel that they're some kind of freak begging for attention. I do not at all go for eyebrow piercings or lip piercings and don't think a nose piercing is attractive at all. Some people are freaks for it... I'm not one of those people and I think I fall within the majority opinion on this subject.

I personally have 9 tattoos and plan to get more. And have over the years had just about every piercing you can get. They are my way of expressing myself. I don't think they make me an idiot in any way. I would rather have my eccentricities and be myself than be a lemming and follow the crowd.

I wouldn't say they're idiots; but I wouldn't say that "people that get tattoos, generally, live how they wanna live, not burdened by what society thinks is right". People get tattoos for different reasons but they're so common these days I think a lot of people get them to fit in. I don't get tattoos because I've never cared what the "in" thing to do is.
And, Angelina Jolie is undesirable.

*shrugs* They're just decoration to me. They aren't very rebellious since so many people have at least one, and they don't make someone look better nor do they make someone look worse, imo. I don't have any piercings or tattoos right now except regular ol' earlobe piercings, lol.
Though I'm not too fond of whole-face tattoos... They look kind of odd to me haha.

Now, about your post. I believe it's excellent. You tell the truth...and the world needs more people willing to do so.
Why I don' t go for tattos? No, no because I am an old f....t but because I don' t like how the traditional tattos look. Now, having my eyelids tattoed (black eyeliner) was one of the best thing I ever did.

I wouldnt call us idiots. Its called having the balls or the courage to have something beautiful maked with ink done to your body that will last a life time! Not a single one is alike. They are all beautiful in there own way. I have four of them and dont hate a single one of them or wish that i hadnt done it. And i plan on getting more. Its not something that makes a person trashy. And its not something that defines a person. Its something that a person chooses to do because they see the beauty in it. Just like you may see some sort of beauty in a non marked up body. But think of it this way everybody has marks on there body, from a car wreck, etc. Does that make them imperfect? They may have a tatoo to symbolize somebody passing or the beginning of a new life. Think before you make the choice that a person is a idiot because of that.

Yes, everyone wants to be different. Tattoos and piercings are becoming the norm, however. In another decade the era of 2000+ will be known for just that.
In the 60 and 70s people wanted to be different so they grew their hair long. LOL...and they all started looking the same.
Do you see the correlation?

the woman in the pic is Kat Von D....( L.A. Ink )....she is well known for her portrait tats....she did a lot of them herself....but associates of hers did the 'unreachable' ones.....she is definately a walking piece of art....
whenever i see statements from people like some of the ones on this thread....i chock them up as a 'lack of education'...tattoos, pierceings and all types of body manipulatons have been in existance since the beginning of man....and in every culture it represents something else....to me...it is art....
